What The Fuck Is This?

When did every girl on Instagram suddenly become their mothers mindlessly sharing spam photos on Facebook in hopes that a $30 one piece just magically shows up to their door one day? Like there’s enough kids in Vietnamese sweatshops to stitch these bathing suits together with their tiny toddler hands fast enough to keep up with all these THOTs blowing up our feed. You all got got, ladies. Shameful. Now get back to slinging herbal tea and teeth whitening kits and go get.

Honestly curious how they plan this is going to help them as a business. I guess they are charging a little extra for shipping, but there’s no way that charge exceeds the amount it costs to produce one swimsuit. So are they purely banking on this to create brand awareness and put them on the map as a big time swim suit company? Cause if you ask me, giving away tens of thousands of swimsuits away essentially for free is not a strong business model. Lap me if I’m stupid but I’m honestly just curious and looking for some insight on how they could profit from this

Out of 100% of girls that reposted jt
40% will be too lazy to redeem it
So they had a ton of free publicity that cost them nothing right there
Out of the remaining 60% that plan to claim the suit
20% will realize they have to pay shipping and thus not order generating more free publicity as seen above
This leaves us 40% who will pay shipping and receive the suit
20% will claim the suit and never get anything again this is a loss
10% will but another suit they like on the spot with their order
And the final 10% will claim the free suit now but be returning customers.
If 100,000 people reposted they just gained 10,000 new customers
10,000 people paid for their suit by ordering another
And the other 80,000 attracted people to their site for more revenue. Not to mention if they host ads on their site that pay per click. The ROI is enormous when those suits cost pennies on the dollar to make.
        Capitalism my friend.

First of all, you can’t throw percentages around like that when we’re talking about hundreds of thousands of people. Your numbers just will not turn out remotely close to reality. I tend to disagree with just about all of your hypothetical stats actually. Second, thank you for pointing out the claim I already made that the majority of what they’re gaining is exposure. That is obvious. Third, you just nonchalantly stated that they will be LOSING MONEY from 20% of the people that reposted. That’s 20,000 girls(and guys?) who are getting a suit that retails at over $100. I don’t care how much the suit costs to make and that they are giving away something inexpensive to make, it’s how much the item is worth that a capitalist would be concerned with. That’s a lot of fucking money that doesn’t just get made up for in advertisement exposure. If you think the 2 million you claim they are giving away pays off because of exposure and that they are going to be the next speedo or some shit after this..you’re out of your mind. Third, id be shocked if 10,000 girls bought a second suit after already receiving a high quality suit for free. This would be attributed to the diminishing marginal rate of utility after the first suit. So there’s another million or so dollars that you’re overestimating. The one solid point you made is the pay per click revenue for the ads on their site. Besides that, you backed up my claim that they gain free advertisement and then just threw out some piss poor percentages and then said capitalism. And for the record, not a fucking liberal arts major. Just a finance major with an internship under my belt at one of the top brokerage firms in the country and a background in marketing. Fucking peasants

        Let’s get learned.

Obviously those percentages are not accurate but they are most likely very close. I also am a finance major, I too have had internships so relax bud you just may be as smart as the rest of us.
The law of diminishing marginal utility is not applicable here. It’s not applicable until the consumer has purchased enough that the next item is not considered useful or until the next item doesn’t bring them enough satisfaction for it to be worth it.

Next, a captitalist is certainly not looking at the normal sales cost and considering it a $65 loss per suit. That $65 would be considered the opportunity cost that they are willing to give up because they see potential in gaining new customers when the suit only costs them let’s say $5 that means their opportunity cost is $60 but they are gaining new customers so to them it’s worth it.
You are correct that if their opportunity cost was actually $50, $60, $70 they would be idiots. But they aren’t, what they are doing is no different than Harry’s or dollar shave club giving you your first month free. They believe enough in their product that they think the product will speak for itself and bring you back.
Amazing that Harry’s and Dolllar Shave club are currently upsetting the likes of Gillette. Stay in the back cubicle you just missed your shot to shoot to the top.

Ask every girl you know that posted it if they purchased a second suit and then report back to me about marginal rate of utility not applying here. There satisfaction is met after they get something for free. Show me a girl that gets an expensive, free swimsuit and then feels the need to buy another immediately after, and we can plan on how to eradicate her from this country together because she’s a fucking moron. You might be right here, bud, but I just really don’t see this promo turning them into a massive company over night.. something which they need to happen for them to pay for all these free suits.

Every now and then the entire female population bands together for one convoluted and confusing social media cause. This is just like when they started randomly putting colors on snapchat. Things like this, and the fact that I’m roughly 20 pounds overweight with a severe alcohol problem are the reason I’m single

If women can convince themselves that there is a wage gap, they can convince themselves that this scam is real too.

They’ve already convinced themselves that there’s such a thing as an “orgasm” so a free swimsuit shouldn’t be a stretch for them.
