Where Does Your School Rank In Forbes’ “Top Colleges 2014” Rankings?
Every school has its place in this world. Some are top tier academic bastions, while others are no more than degree mills built to withstand ragers filled with enough illegal substances to instill terror in even the most hardened criminals.
Forbes released its “Top Colleges 2014” rankings, and the results may surprise you.
The top 10 is comprised of the usual suspects with a few academically overachieving schools you’ve never heard of thrown into the mix. Stanford comes in strong with a second place finish, while the United States Military Academy takes home the ninth place prize–not a terrible finish at all.
After the top 10, the list delves into a compilation of the most obscure nerd colleges in the nation, so we’re going to skip that part and hit up some of our country’s biggest rivalries instead.
Starting with the ever-competitive state of Texas, home of TFM, Rice and the University of Texas shit on the competition, but Tech was unable to even crack the top 400.
As we move over to Alabama, home of the infamous Iron Bowl rivalry, you may be surprised to see the state didn’t have a school sniff the top 200. Okay, maybe it’s not that surprising, but while Auburn and Alabama fight over trivial bullshit, the tiny school of Samford University in Birmingham quietly overtakes them in the rankings. Ultimately, however, Auburn still dominates Bama.
As we continue to head east, we’ll find that the situation in Florida isn’t much different than Texas, as the University of Florida curb stomped their in-state rivals.
Side note: What the fuck is New College of Florida?
Next, we’re going to hit up the state of Mississippi. Sadly, no one is really a winner here, as it fails to have a school escape the mid-300s. However, if you consider being 359 over 365 a victory, then by all means, fucking celebrate.
Finally, let’s check out everybody’s favorite party schools and the home of the hottest girls in the country, the University of Arizona and Arizona State.

Are we not going to talk about Arizona State having over 73,000 fucking students?…
10 years ago at 11:21 amTo put that into perspective, Arizona State University is larger than around ~40 nations.
10 years ago at 11:49 amProbably because its so easy to get accepted
10 years ago at 12:02 pmI believe that’s why it’s the biggest college in the country.
10 years ago at 12:33 pmdid you come up with that conclusion all by yourself?
10 years ago at 2:41 pmThat would be false. Liberty University is the largest.

10 years ago at 1:14 pmTry 359.
10 years ago at 1:19 amDon’t understand how you can compare a state school with 60,000 students with a liberal arts school with a couple thousand. US News is all I’d look to for college rankings
10 years ago at 2:08 pmsome schools may be ranked higher, but all i know is that the average starting salary for my major is 68k, and that’s not some ranking, it’s a fact.
10 years ago at 12:31 amYou do realize 68K would be in the lower quarter of most majors at some colleges?
10 years ago at 7:15 pmHardly. I know that engineering is a top 10 major in terms of money made after graduation and they come out making around 65-70k as a starting salary. I’d say anything above 55k for a starting salary is good out of college, that is, as long as we’re talking strictly bachelors. 68k would be lower quarter over a career, but as a starting salary, is pretty good.
Also depends where you live.
10 years ago at 8:55 pmCould you name some colleges and majors? I’m genuinely interested. From what I hear only analysts at BB’s from Ivy-League/top schools near those kinds of starting salaries.
10 years ago at 11:54 pmMisread and mistyped. Laps taken.
10 years ago at 5:35 pmClearly whoever came up with this list has not talked to employers
10 years ago at 2:27 pmDoes Williams College offer a degree in government handouts with a minor in starbucks coffee making?
