Woman Who Crafted UVA Rape Hoax Summoned By Judge

The woman who fabricated the brutal University of Virginia gang rape story in the Rolling Stone may be punished for her actions.

Judge Glen Conrad wrote a court order Friday calling for “Jackie” — whose real name is still confidential — to appear before him for a seven hour deposition.

From Daily Mail:

‘The court believes that a one-day, seven-hour deposition will be sufficient,’ Judge Glen Conrad wrote in a court order on Friday, according to Newsweek.

She is scheduled to appear on April 5.

UVA was flung into turmoil when Rolling Stone published an article in 2014 detailing Jackie’s alleged gang rape at the Phi Kappa Psi house. Protestors vandalized the fraternity house, led a large protest in the front yard, and even threatened the lives of the brothers.

The 9,000-word exposé was later retracted by Rolling Stone when the story was proven to be false. Later, it was revealed that the elaborate hoax was concocted by Jackie so a crush would come to her rescue.

After a student named Ryan Duffin rejected her advances, she started texting him under a made-up boy’s name, Haven Monahan. She used photos of a classmate from her high school in Northern Virginia to trick Duffin into thinking Monahan was real. Monahan would be the one to eventually “rape” Jackie in the Phi Kappa Psi house.

With hindsight, Duffin wondered how he did not see through Jackie’s lies. He told the Washington Post he found Monahan’s infatuation with Jackie odd.

He told of how he received a text from Monahan saying: ‘Get this she said she likes some other 1st year guy who dosnt like her and turned her down but she wont date me cause she likes him [sic].’

Jesus. It’s probably going to take Duffin a while to be able to trust anyone again. It sucks that he feels like he should have known better. But how could he have? When a friend tells you she’s been raped, you can’t just say you don’t believe her.

Hopefully, this deposition will lead to charges against Jackie. While Rolling Stone is currently being sued by Phi Kappa Psi for $25 million, that case is a matter of journalistic negligence. A case against Jackie, however, would take things to the student level and help to establish a precedent for false rape accusers on college campuses nationwide.

I like this for situations like this, however it shouldn’t be common practice. Legitimate rape victims would come forward less often in fear of being accused of lying.

If it’s proven beyond a reasonable doubt you were lying you should absolutely get the same punishment. Legitimate rape victims would never have to worry.

In cases where it’s not clear what happened nobody gets punished.

Gee you would think politely declining a girl’s advances would be enough to get them to leave you alone. But I guess some girls just can’t take “no” for an answer

Very glad action is being taken, that said, it is a damn scary time to be a middle-upper class white male.

Her punishment should be equivalent to a false reporting of a crime. Speaking of which, I still stand by reporting all rape incidents to police.

I can’t read your name without thinking you’re an obese welfare woman known for rolling around the trailer park on the scooter she got from a minor settlement with the local WalMart. “Here comes Fat Tina.”

Complete bullshit her identity is still confidential. She does not deserve the protection of anonymity when those whose lives she ruined are not afforded the same privilege.
