World Golf Championship Moved To Mexico, Trump Is Pissed

Donald Trump is not pleased. The World Golf Championship has been held at Trump’s own Doral course in Miami for 55 years, but will be making the move to Mexico City for 2017.

From BBC:

Mr Trump said the PGA had “put profit ahead of thousands of American jobs”.
On the campaign trail, Mr Trump has portrayed Mexico as undermining the US economy.

PGA Tour commissioner Timothy Finchem said Mr Trump’s current profile had made it “difficult” to attract sponsors.

“It’s fundamentally a sponsorship issue,” said Mr Finchem.

That’s not all. Trump told Fox News that he hopes “they have kidnapping insurance” for the tournament. I’m going to have to take a minute to look up what “kidnapping insurance” is.

This decision only further embodies the very reason I am running for president of the United States,” he said.

You heard it here first. If Donald Trump gets elected into office, we won’t be outsourcing our golf tournaments to Mexico, where the golfers could be kidnapped by rapists and murderers. This raises questions as to whether or not he’ll try to prevent the NFL from holding a game in Mexico City.

One of the funniest things about this story is that the percentage of people with Hispanic heritage is actually higher in Miami than in Mexico City. This seems to rule out a racially-biased motive for Trump being angry about this, and shows that his beef is with the nation of Mexico taking advertisers and spectators away from his own course.

I wonder if a Trump golf ball can help me bullshit my way through a round better than a Pro V1.

Well if you have a quick swing speed and clean grooves you shouldn’t have to bullshit anything

The move is obviously political, and you can bet the tournament wouldn’t be going anywhere if the course was owned by Clinton or Sanders. #MAGA

Probably but not on the part of the PGA, this is the sponsors being political and not wanting to associate with someone they see as politically toxic. Just another example of money talks.

Clinton or sanders actually owning something? Come on they’ll just borrow someone else’s course that they think should be for everyone to use.

The wgc has been looking into moving this tournament for a long time. Attendance has been way down over the last ten years or so. Shame tho doral is one of the longer running pga courses since 1962.
