just wanted to say these stupid students have nothing to do with being liberal or on the left. stupid is just stupid. the atlantic, one of the most “liberal” publications out there published a long article completely roasting these kids for their hypocrisy and short-sightedness. it may not seem like it where you live but there are a lot of well educated rational people on the left too.
you have a lot of bros in the northeast especially that lean left but fuck it lets still get wasted and hunt poon together.
What people don’t realize is that this video was taken entirely out of context. The entire scene was a 20 minute discussion which started out with students presenting their issues with the way he and his wife have addressed them in the past week. He refused to listen to them, spoke over most of them and then condescendingly told them their problems weren’t relevant. The resulting scene was this girl, getting so fed up with him after rationally trying to get him to listen for 20 minutes, finally reaching her breaking point. While I don’t agree with this girl speaking so disrespectfully to an administrator like Master Christakis, the media completely rewrote the narrative of this discussion through its editing and presentation. The other thing to note is that a Master of a residential college at Yale is meant to act as a support liaison for their students. These students felt personally attacked and disrespected from an email sent out the previous week by Master Christakis’ wife, and while he as a professor and an academic owes nothing to these students but an education, he as a Master of this residential college owes them sympathy and guidance through their time at school, of which he has provided neither over the past two weeks. I’m not saying I agree with the situation in the video, but its important to look critically at the way news outlets present information and realize that in most cases it is presented in a sensationalist way in order to gain attention and views. We should be critical of the way we are fed information in this country and try to understand the whole story before writing off an individual.

10 years ago at 1:43 amBeing offended isn’t relevant. “Feeling” personally attacked isn’t relevant. Their problems aren’t relevant; they’re imaginary.
10 years ago at 12:08 pmHe was completely right to say their worries were irrelevant. They were.
