Yale University Under Investigation For Discriminating Against Men

Once upon a time, I was offered the golden opportunity to attend an Ivy League college just because I was kind of good at sports. I turned down said opportunity because my 17-year-old self felt that partying at a marginally prestigious state school was far more important.

And while my dad may still not be speaking to me over the ordeal, it appears that I may have made the right decision. Because while prestigious, at least one Ivy League institution, Yale, is being exposed for an uncomfortable practice: they allegedly discriminate against men. Take that, dad.

From Yale Daily News:

The Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights has opened an investigation into Yale for discrimination against men, in response to a complaint filed in February alleging that the University has violated Title IX with seven single-gender programs and scholarships that exclusively benefit women.

The complaint — which was taken up by the OCR on April 26, according to a department spokesman — was filed by Kursat Christoff Pekgoz, a doctoral student in English at the University of Southern California. Pekgoz filed similar complaints against two other universities, including one against USC that has also been taken up by the OCR. Pekgoz has no affiliation with Yale.

Sometimes I wonder if it is even possible to live in a world where real gender equality exists. Policies like these certainly don’t help. How have the male students at Yale even survived? Why aren’t they fighting this gross injustice? Some dude from halfway across the country had to step in and fight their battle for them? That’s just sad.

Can you even imagine what it would be like if roles were reversed — if there were things in our society made exclusively for men? It would be pandemonium. Women would be marching in the streets demanding the same rights. That’d be crazy, wouldn’t it?

But us men don’t even care. We just let ourselves get walked all over while the women’s club at Yale is steady taking over the world through the following initiatives.

The seven initiatives are the Women Faculty Forum, Working Women’s Network, the Yale University Women’s Organization, Yale Women’s Campaign School, Yale Women Innovators, Smart Women Securities and Women Empowering Women Leadership Conference.

Maybe I should start my own “Men’s Organization,” since apparently that’s allowed.

“But Dent, aren’t all organizations ever basically men’s organizations?” Shhhhhhh (I’m trying to make a point here, idiot).

Listen, ladies. We’re not asking for much. We just want the same rights as everyone else. Let us be your equal, please..
