2 Drunk Guys Hijack Golf Cart From Sunday’s PGA Event And Drive It 5 Miles To Popular Charlotte Bar

While Sunday’s final round at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte wasn’t all that exciting (Rory McIlroy won by seven strokes), there was a bit of post-tournament action that was particularly interesting.

According to multiple sources, two drunk guys stole a golf cart from the Quail Hollow clubhouse, drove it five miles north to Selwyn Pub, parked it on the bar’s front patio, and ordered two shots before abandoning the cart and leaving the bar undetected.

The amount of confidence it takes to drunk-drive a golf cart five miles is remarkable (unless you’re actually playing golf, then it’s normal), but what’s even more staggering is that they managed to make it all the way to the bar without getting pulled over and arrested. As you can see on the map below, it’s impossible to make it all the way to the bar without taking major roads for a significant amount of time — especially when you’re cruising at 12 to 14 miles per hour.

Then to have the balls to just drive the golf cart inside of the bar, past the bouncers is just…bravo. And to get out of there without having to face some sort of criminal offense? D.B. Cooper would be proud.

Apparently, someone from the country club showed up the next morning, apologized, and loaded the cart up on a trailer. Just more irrefutable proof that golf tournaments can be some of the most fun sporting events on the planet.
