77-Year-Old With One Good Eye Hits Three Holes-In-One In 28 Days
“I didn’t hit that’n good.”
Bob Robertson is not only an old man quote machine, but he has the best old man golf swing in the game. Look at this beauty: absolutely zero hip action, a half-cocked backswing, a non-existent followthrough. Just classic old man-style. Perfectly straight and 115 yards, every single time. I can’t wait for my old man swing to set in.
This video is a must-watch:
“I had a stroke that took out this eye. I caint turn on a ball like I usedtocould. A fella out here used to call me ‘Dead Eye’ becaushe I hit straight ballsh.”
I can’t make the connection between the nickname “Dead Eye” and splitting the fairway, but I’m sure the old-timers at Tennessee’s Smyrna Golf Course get a good kick out of it anyway, that and Bob’s whistle-mouth. You know the guy is just a hoot in the locker room, causing heart attacks left and right with his gut-busting humor.
Bob is 77 years old with only one good eye left, and amazingly, he hit a hole-in-one on the same hole for the third time in 28 days — a 109-yard par three.
Robertson says the improbable golf shot wasn’t by chance. He planned it.
“I told God if he let me that win that money, that I’d donate that money to mission work and he let me win it,” Robertson said. “I know it might be hard to believe, but it’s true.”
Robertson’s granddaughter is studying to be a missionary and is leaving Saturday for a mission trip to Indonesia.
Robertson plays in a senior golf league at the Smyrna Golf Course every Tuesday. Two of his hole-in-one shots were during league play, making him the winner of a $500 pot to which 75 seniors contributed.
Not surprisingly, he’s a hell of a grandfather, too. Gotta love Bob. You just have to. The man’s also an Air Force veteran, making him one of the greatest Americans of all time.
P.S. You gotta respect this reporter getting out there so unnecessarily and showing off his great stroke with the short iron. So cocky.
Dude just shows Bob up like the arrogant sonofabitch he is. Love it. That’s the kind of move that’ll land you an anchor job.
