U.S. News Names the Ten Colleges With the Highest Percentage of Students in Fraternities
If you REALLY hate GDIs then these are the schools for you, because apparently they have the fewest drum circles and long boards.
1. Welch College (TN)-98%
2. Lyon College (AR)-92%
3. Washington and Lee University (VA)-86%
4. DePauw University (IN)-76%
5. Sewanee–University of the South (TN)-67%
6. Millsaps College (MS)-60%
7. York College (NE)-60%
8. Wabash College (IN)-52%
9. Transylvania College (KY)-50%
10. Dartmouth College (NH)-48%
Nationally, fraternity membership at universities is obviously at a much smaller percentage.
At the 951 ranked college and universities that reported fraternity participation data to U.S. News in a 2012 survey, an average of 8.1 percent of the male, degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled in fall 2011 were members of a fraternity.
We are the 8.1%.

Washington and Lee being 3 on this list and named after two of the greatest Americans ever. TFM.
12 years ago at 11:46 amGood old DePauw and Wabash.
12 years ago at 11:46 amFraternity allegiances aside, those schools are both terrible.
12 years ago at 11:50 amDePauw only drinks beer and Wabash is all dudes. So yeah, not the greatest.
12 years ago at 11:53 amYeah, since Wabash is one of the best schools in the nation. And they bring in busses of women every weekend.
12 years ago at 12:09 pm^A buddy of mine goes to Wabash so i’ve been there before. So, let me just say that “busses full of women” going there is the biggest bullshit i’ve ever heard
12 years ago at 12:18 pmI am a DePauw alum and yes, there is a lot of beer, but there’s also just as much liquor. Tailgates suck, the school is liberal as shit, the school likes to meddle in greek life, the girls are slightly better than average with very few dimes, and some of the sororities and fraternities are a joke. However, the most of the fraternity chapters are nearing 150 years old so there is a lot of history, the top few fraternities can rival state school chapters, and there is nothing to do in Greencastle but drink and rage.
12 years ago at 1:06 pmtl;dr DePauw as a whole sucks, but the fraternities as a whole are strong.
^ When did you even graduate, because you’re completely wrong. Top 10 party school, were you even in a top-tier house?
12 years ago at 3:59 pmWhich of my points do you disagree with?
12 years ago at 10:46 pmI graduated in May, so things should be about the same. The truth is that students at DePauw don’t know much about greek life outside of the DePauw bubble. My father and 2 siblings were all greek at state schools so I have references to draw comparisons and to view DePauw from another perspective. DePauw students party, but DePauw as an institution is becoming increasingly hostile toward the top-tier houses. Also don’t try to defend the tailgates or girls, because that will only show your ignorance. To clarify my previous statement, DePauw as an institution sucks, but the fraternities are strong.
12 years ago at 11:12 pmTailgates sure, but girls are pretty good, between Pi Phi, Theta, and Phi at least.
12 years ago at 9:22 pmYeah there are some above average looking girls in those houses, but very many great looking girls. There’s lots of 6s and 7s but just about no 8s or 9s.
12 years ago at 9:23 pmbut *not* very many
12 years ago at 9:24 pmIf you say so.
12 years ago at 11:50 amBidding everyone. TPikesM.
12 years ago at 11:55 amSmall private schools with a couple thousand students. Cool.
12 years ago at 11:57 amJealous you didn’t make it to private school status bruh?
12 years ago at 12:00 pmnot if that means you did…. “bruh”
12 years ago at 12:19 pmWhy in the fuck would I go to a small private liberal arts school when I could go to a major research-oriented public school, where I don’t have to latch onto other schools in order to not be bored out of my skull?
12 years ago at 7:18 pmWelch College: A Christian Community of Faith and Learning. Sounds FaF. US News and World Report Rankings are all bullshit anyway. The first year they did their MBA rankings they listed Princeton in the Top 25 which would have been awesome for Princeton if they had a Business School.
12 years ago at 12:45 pmDartmouth College. FaF.
12 years ago at 1:26 pmSewanee. FaF
12 years ago at 1:36 pmThere’s no way a school has 98% of the kids there worthy of a fraternity. Part of what makes fraternities so great is only the top kids at a school are in them. So fuck off Welch college.
12 years ago at 3:04 pmYEAH!!!
12 years ago at 3:21 pm^^ They have like 300 kids.
12 years ago at 4:22 pmWelch is a Baptist Christian college so the fraternities there are probably much different from secular colleges (no drinking, partying etc.)… second of all some universities only tend to enroll well-to-do whites going into business which is why Dartmouth has such a high percentage.
12 years ago at 5:05 pmWLU IS a frat
12 years ago at 8:01 pmDePauw and Dartmouth and Washington and Lee are the only two real colleges on here.
12 years ago at 10:51 pm*three, dammit
12 years ago at 10:54 pmDePauw is gay
