Blogger Angered By New York Times Editorial Endorsing Gun Control, Shoots It Several Times With His Gun

On Friday, the New York Times, in the wake of another mass shooting in California, ran a 1A editorial about why the government needed to do something about gun control. It was the first time since 1920 an editorial was placed on the front page of the Times. Naturally, it angered a lot of people.

One person in particular, Erick Erickson, the editor-in-chief of a right-wing blog, decided he needed to make a statement about the piece. In a grand gesture that was almost as stupid as it was futile, Erickson loaded his gun and shot the newspaper multiple times. He then uploaded photos of the deceased NYT remains on Twitter.

In a message accompanying the stunt, Erickson encouraged his supporters to also shoot up their newspapers. It went viral on Twitter, with a mixed bag of responses in his mentions.

FWIW, Erickson embraced the backlash:

I don’t really give a shit about gun control one way or another, but, yeah, this guy should probably get his guns taken away — even if it’s only temporarily. When you start shooting up newspaper articles to make a point, it’s probably time to seek medical attention. And don’t feed me this “WHAT WOULD THE FOUNDING FATHERS THINK??” bullshit. Why would anyone in their right minds actually give a fuck what those guys would think about America today? They had wooden teeth and wore wigs and couldn’t figure out how to survive a common fever.

Gotta love campaign season. Political discourse is only getting stronger.

Saw a times article that said “Obama speaks to nervous Americans on Terror.”
I haven’t gotten any more nervous and I’m sure this whack job hasn’t either.
Arm yourselves folks. You could save some lives some day, but I pray to god you never have to.

The writers at TFM being too big of pussies to attach their real name to a controversial article, so they throw Steve Holt under the bus.

Why the fuck should he have his guns taken away for not harming anyone with them? People just don’t like freedom.

Hey libs, if the Founding Fathers didn’t think of semiautomatic glorified hunting rifles when they wrote the Second Amendment, perhaps we ought to shut down all electronic forms of communication too. Because they weren’t thinking of the Internet when they wrote the First, either.

Don’t give them any ideas. I could honestly see them using this line of logic to attack “Offensive” things on the internet at this point.
