There’s no such thing as a “northern accent”. Depends on where you’re at. Yooper, Hoosier, Chicago, Boston, New York, and Pittsburgh all have completely different sounds. Also, most yankee folks in southern Illinois/Indiana have a legit southern drawl just like you.
