Aggies to Hold Tryout for Kicker, Punter, Deep Snapper SIX DAYS Before Season Starts
First year Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin slapped America across the face with this tweet last night:
It looks like Kev finally received a copy of the Ag’s 2012 schedule and realized his kicker and punter will play vital roles in the upcoming season. I hope A&M fans can fill me in, and my question is this: did Coach Sumlin just hit the panic button just six days before game 1, or is he setting up some kind of contingency plan?
It will be hilarious if they rip some former soccer playing fratter off the intramural fields and throw him out there in front of 90k when Florida comes to town in week 2.
Somewhere, the current A&M kicker and punter were sitting back in their dorms cruising the Twittosphere for a little late night smut action when Coach Sumlin dropped this bombshell and ruin their weeks. This could be something to keep an eye on when the Ags take the field this Thursday night against Louisiana Tech.

12 years ago at 9:40 amConsidering they have four place kickers, 2 punters, and 2 deep snappers on the team roster, I think it’s just for depth.

12 years ago at 5:28 pmThe kickoff and special teams used to be exclusively walk-ons. It’s part of the 12th man tradition, but this is the only year it’s gotten publicity
