Arkansas State Lambda Chi Alpha threw a patriotic AF Red, White, and Blue BBQ philanthropy on Saturday, August 27th and raised $5,000 to provide an Iraq veteran named David Hudson with a service dog.

From KAIT8:

“We are so excited and cannot believe the incredible support,” said Robert Morris, philanthropy chairman of Lambda Chi Alpha. Morris pointed to support from the Jonesboro business community as to the reason for such support.

The Red, White, and Blue BBQ featured cooking teams competing for trophies Celebrity judges determined the winning ribs and chicken cooking teams.

The only office I ever held through the entirety of my term (without impeachment proceedings) was Philanthropy Chair, and I’m personally very proud of it. Philanthropy is one of the things about fraternities we can all agree really works. Sustained community service and fundraising is integral to the general image of the Greek community.

The brothers at Lambda did a great job with this one, picking a reasonable philanthropy goal and applying it to a truly worthy cause. If you’re looking for a similar set up for your chapter, follow their example and try to pick something fun that will meaningfully connect to a person in your immediate community. Good work, boys. Keep it up.

Plus, that BBQ sounds like it was fucking delicious.

I can personally tell you 99% of dudes coming out of the military are weird as fuck, but the 1% that are normal would be perfect for fraternity life.
