Atlanta Pastor Delivers Sermon Praising God For The Return Of UGA Running Back Nick Chubb
A Georgia pastor delivered a powerful sermon on Sunday morning at an Atlanta area church that clearly moved his congregation. The message? Thank God for the return of Nick Chubb.
Chubb, a Heisman trophy caliber running back for the Georgia Bulldogs, gave Georgians everywhere plenty to be thankful for on Saturday afternoon in the Georgia Dome — rushing 32 times for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Obviously, it was an act of God.
The most impressive part of Chubb’s performance to me wasn’t any particular statistical achievement, but rather the fact that a UGA running back made it all the way through a big game without tearing an ACL or snapping a leg in half. That was about as miraculous as walking on water or turning water into wine.
Every year, UGA football does the same thing. The Bulldogs win a big game early. The hype builds. A Heisman trophy candidate emerges. Said Heisman trophy candidate does some unspeakable thing to one of his ligaments. UGA loses to South Carolina or Tennessee. Rebounds. Gets it together just in time for the CapitalOne Bowl. Beats a Big Ten team in late December. Reboots.
It’s like clockwork.
So, yeah. If I was a UGA fan, Saturday gave me something that made me thank God. But will God be around when UGA is playing Tennessee or Florida? I doubt it. But I’m sure Bulldogs throughout Atlanta will show up to this church before its all said and done..

8 years ago at 9:22 amAfter the first sentence, there was no doubt this was a Steve Holt article.
8 years ago at 9:31 amYou suck, Steve. I’ve never seen an easier soft pitch lobbed over the center. Yet, it blew by you. Never a single quality joke – even when a pastor praises a returning Chubb.
8 years ago at 9:48 amIt was nice seeing UGA stick with their traditional offense: 200 handoffs in a row with an occasional bullshit pass interference call to shake things up. That’s Georgia football.
