Baylor’s Long Snapper Executes Awesome Trick Shot, Breaks Out USA Chant

Long snappers are the souls of many football teams. They’re generally the guys who grind day in and day out for a well-deserved, under-appreciated spot on the field. The long-snapping game is a carefully crafted art.

Baylor’s Jimmy Landes proved that again Sunday night, when the fifth-year senior snapped a ball from the top of McLane Stadium into a trash can below.

I don’t care how many tries that took him; that’s not easy to do. I’m actually half-way surprised it’s not a Dude Perfect video.

Landes snapped that ball so perfectly that it blew the freaking minds of the two dudes below whose natural reactions were to make a run for the hills.

The kicker here is whoever’s reaction is to break immediately into a USA chant.

“Woo! USA! USA! USA!”

Landes’ video seems to be in response to Buffalo Bulls long snapper Corbin Grassman’s vid from earlier in the week.

It doesn’t get any better than chanting USA after you immediately one-up someone. Suddenly, Landes is my favorite fifth-year long snapper on a Big 12 team located in Texas. I don’t give that award to just anyone.

Long snapper is the most unimportant position in football. Whenever I’m playing madden on Xbox live and faced with a tough 4th down, I have a simple process. I crack open a code red Mountain Dew, and use four verticals. No one ever punts, thus relieving the need for a long snapper.

Ok. For example, when your playing video games, you don’t want to punt because everyone knows offense is more fun. So you go for it rather than punt so you can maintain possession of the football. So in order to get that last ounce of concentration, you guzzle down a code red mtn dew, eat you a few skittles, and you go for it. 95% of the online community doesn’t like to punt so in that retrospect the long snapper is irrelevant. All I’m saying.
