BCS National Championship

TEXAS—The finest event in the year of sports is just hours away. After routing South Carolina in the SEC Championship to cap an undefeated season, few would argue against Auburn’s rightful position in the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game. Controversy has surrounded the Tigers’ leader Cam Newton throughout the season, but that hasn’t stopped him from carrying Auburn all the way to the biggest show in College Football. Old man Newton was just trying to ensure he got his cut for having awesome sperm. Don’t hate.

Auburn is favored -2 in what is predicted to be a high-scoring game, with both teams wielding offenses that looked unstoppable at times this season. Oregon’s uniquely fast paced offense led by LaMichael James, who finished third in Heisman voting, and their sixth-ranked pass efficiency defense, will try and stymie the Auburn defense and Heisman Trophy winner Newton. The University of Phoenix Stadium will demonstrate a significant difference in student bodies between the schools, with Auburn’s fans looking respectable and Oregon’s fans likely looking as ridiculous as one of the hundreds of jersey combinations their team allows, or similar to the lovely ladies in the Kappa Rap video.

Having Nike’s Phil Knight as an alumnus obviously gives an enormous boost to the athletic department, but it still doesn’t keep Oregon’s geed population from producing videos that embarrass the University as a whole, such as this one:

Seriously? COME ON. Thankfully, Oregon is the designated away-team so their main color is white, restricting the ridiculously gaudy uniform combos and limiting the amount of neon they can unashamedly put to use. Neon can be FaF when you’re being an obnoxious JI or attending an 80s party, but it’s NF on the football field.

Gene Chizik discusses the matchup with Rome:

Michael Dyer reflects on the loss of his father before each game:

Erin Andrews at media day interviews LaMichael James, Nick Fairley, and others:

Teach yourself how to Duckie, or preferably, don’t:

My money is on Auburn, but this should be one for the books. Expect lots of scoring, lots of Cam Newton, and lots of Oregon’s 2-minute offense throughout the entire game.

  1. In the Year 1865

It’s worth pointing out that Oregon does produce some great looking fan videos month in and month out. Embarrassing? Absolutely. But there is a lot of work that went into that I’d say.

Anyway, back to the issue at hand. The SEC is currently sitting at 4 wins and 4 loses in bowl games right now. But those weren’t the best damn team money can buy. I think that Cam’s gonna play big in his last game before he gets his NFL pay raise over his current NCAA rates. It’s possible that Auburn has their record vacated in a few years (Just like USC), but on January 10th it’ll be an Auburn victory.

First off Auburn will win on the lone fact that the north is inferior, as well as Nick Fairly will have plenty of sack lunches. NUM NUM NUM

Just hours away from the North hazing the south once again. Southern states are so poor the NFL won’t even look at Alabama or Arkansas. We understand you rednecks from the south have to talk yourselves up to feel better about yourselves. Hell your greatest claim to fame is Jeff Foxworthy.

First, how does the wealth of a player have anything to do with the draft? I’m pretty sure they’re about the same everywhere.

Second, the South has better athletes than the North.

    3. sorry

haven’t the last 4 Heisman Trophy winners been from a southern school? (if you count Oklahoma)

and the SEC has won every BCS National Championship right? (that would be the last 4 as well)

yeah i guess the north does haze the South

That makes no sense that the NFL won’t look at Arkansas or Alabama because they are poor. It is quite the opposite, NFL teams would be more likely to look to the south because they have better athletes and it wouldn’t cost as much money to draft a player if he is poor because they haven’t been brought up in a life of money ergo willing to accept less money than a player who is brought up in a life of money. My only problem with this poll is that they made Auburn Blue and Oregon Red. It looks like a backward election poll.
