Beta Theta Pi At South Carolina Will Host Benefit Run For Family Of 8-Year-Old Killed At Boston Marathon
From Facebook:
The Brothers of Beta Theta Pi at USC are sponsoring a group run to show our support for Boston after tragedy. It doesn’t matter if you can run ten feet or ten miles, just come out. As the Boston Marathon was held on Patriot’s Day, please do your best to wear red, white, and blue!
We will be selling T-Shirts and taking donations at the tent in the middle of the field. This will run from 6pm-7:30pm. At 6:30pm we will hold a ‘Group Run.’ The ‘course’ will be around the perimeter of the field (0.25 miles). You can walk, jog, run, or watch. You can run for a second, or for the full 15 minutes. It is a visual, group method of support.
All proceeds from the T-Shirts and donations will be donated to the Richard Family Fund. The Richard Family lost their 8 year old son, Martin in the tragedy yesterday, and his mother and sister both sustained serious injuries. The Richard Family Fund has been set up by Meetinghouse Bank in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the town in which the Richard Family lives.
Several USC students and staff were in attendance and running at the Marathon – lets show Boston that we care. Come out to the Greene Street Fields at 6pm This Thursday, April 18th! [sic]
Aside from the obvious, the great thing about this run is you don’t even have to finish it. Hell, you barely have to start it. Run, jog, walk, crawl — whatever you want. It’s only 15 minutes long, too. A run for the lazy person. A run for the hungover, the still drunk, the out of shape, the in shape, the “I have a test to study for” people, it’s for everyone.
The beauty of this is any and all excuses will fall flat. Get it done, Gamecock students and community, and bring your wallets.
Great idea, gentlemen.
