Sig Ep At Virginia Tech Just Lost Their Brand New $5,000,000 Home To GDIs
Per another tipster:
They lost their charter because they hired porn stars to strip for them using chapter funds.
Ha! Classic.
We were also emailed a formal document that’s about as long as every college textbook I never read, but after spending a couple minutes skimming through, it appears to be a detailed report of every allegation against the chapter and subsequent response from the national office from December 2008 to November 2012. I’ll start sorting through this bad boy to see what I can share, if anything at all.
The latest:
I read through the document this morning. I don’t want to air anyone’s dirty laundry, so I’ll just say that the earlier report about misconduct and mismanagement was fairly accurate. Okay, very accurate. They also treated their new mansion like a rundown spring break hotel.
According to multiple tipsters, the Virginia Tech chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon recently had their recognition withdrawn by their national office. Details remain minimal and unconfirmed for the time being, as this story is still fluid, and we’ll certainly update as soon as we obtain more information, but it sounds like their charter was pulled due to general misconduct and mismanagement.
Remember the amazing $5 million house that this chapter had the privilege of moving into at the beginning of the spring semester?
You know, this one:
Well, they lost it. They have to move out and they have to stay out. Commenters from this story that I posted almost a month ago state that the chapter was previously on probation, contributing to the explanation of the seemingly abrupt dismissal.
We were also sent the following screen capture. I can’t confirm where it’s from or by whom it was posted, but it helps shed some light on this breaking development, so here it is:
My response to that last paragraph: ouch, and fuuuuuuuuuuuck.
Just to clarify how things work… If any Sig Ep house is worth a shit, they still haze… Balanced Man Chapters included. As a Sigma, aka pledge, you will be doing a lot of cleaning, DD’ing, and learning ritual. You have no rank whatsoever in the house and you are expectec to keep your mouth shut in Chapter and pay for dinner afterwards. The Balanced Man Program is simply a mechanism used for political purposes keeping unneeded heat off the chapters. Pardon the irony in my username.
12 years ago at 9:19 pmCleaning, dd’ing, learning the actual ritual of the fraternity, and going to chapter…that’s some hardcore pledgeship, man.
12 years ago at 9:29 pmlol at your last sentence
12 years ago at 9:34 pmlearning the ritual as a pledge? BM is an interesting concept and I guess I see how it works, but to any other fraternity man, that is just ridiculous.
12 years ago at 9:55 pm^ I suspect “learning ritual” means learning whatever was formerly in the pledge manual. I can’t fathom any house teaching pledges actual ritual until their I-week or whatever people do.
12 years ago at 10:23 pmI would hope. Just the way he worded it.
12 years ago at 10:25 pmIt could have been worded better. It’s fairly simple, you’re a fucking pledge until you move into the house in your second year (that’s how it worked in my chapter) after being treated like a second class citizen for the first year. If you made it through the first year and lived in the house you earned a say… If you elected to not live in the house, you were never fully respected. If you somehow made it through the first year, and decided to live in, yet were still a tool… You were shunned and forced to live in the basement. After living in, if you were a valued member of the Fraternity (athletically or socially) you kept your rank… If not, you moved out and were no longer heard from. Generally speaking, at this point… Those with strong fraternal qualities partner up with those in other fraternities that excel in life, move out and crush ass the next 2-3 years.
12 years ago at 2:33 amnow makes since why you got kicked off campus.
12 years ago at 8:20 amfuck sense*
12 years ago at 8:20 amFuck sense.
12 years ago at 12:10 pmIt is quite the difference in my experience. I was elected to Executive council as a Sigma with only a month in the chapter. I also am not required to live in the house my 2nd year nor did I have to clean all the time. The entire chapter cleaned the house.
12 years ago at 9:52 pmYeah Sig Ep nationals has been going on a tirade, they just did the same to the sigep chapter at my school
12 years ago at 9:27 pmSo basically there will just be a different group of geeds living in the house.
12 years ago at 9:50 pmEvery SigEp chapter that’s at all relevant today is (usually) not balanced man. Even if they say they are a BM chapter, they usually aren’t. Nationals is really cracking down all across the country though
12 years ago at 9:59 pmGDI’s occupying a $5 million dollar house? Horseshit
12 years ago at 10:11 pmStill longer than Kim Khardashian’s marriage.
12 years ago at 10:23 pmGood one, Nuck.
12 years ago at 10:45 amAlways always always clean the money. Haven’t there been enough movies chronicling this?
12 years ago at 10:48 pmNo cocaine?
12 years ago at 11:07 pmIt was Sig Ep at VT… there was always cocaine.
12 years ago at 12:14 pmThats why the house money manager creates a separate account at the beginning of the semester, overcharges dues because parents pay them anyways, and uses this separate money that is ‘unaffiliated’ with the fraternity to do this shit. It’s not about whats right or wrong, its how it looks in the ledger. Moral of the story is bid more Hebrews next time.
12 years ago at 12:26 amNot every treasurer knows how to hide funds in quickbooks
12 years ago at 6:10 am^ Why even bother creating a paper trail?
12 years ago at 4:04 pmSince when did nationals have the authority of eminent domain? I don’t know any chapter that doesn’t have any infractions since 2008.
