Carnegie Mellon Student Arrested For Dressing Up As Slutty Pope And Passing Out Condoms

During the Carnegie Mellon University spring fine arts parade, student Katherine O’Connor, 19, had a message to send and there was only one way she could think of to send it. She decided against pamphlets, knowing no one reads them anyway, and refused to be some protester with an obnoxious sign. Instead, she bedazzled the shit out of some cardboard, cut it into the shape of the pope’s hat, and put on a teensey little shawl, leaving her nude from the waist down. She shaved a cross into her pubes, and rallied. Personally, I don’t believe in any type of landing strip, but she was making a point. It’s all about attention to detail, people. Once at the parade, she threw condoms at onlookers, cigarette in hand.

Bishop David Zubik of the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese was naturally appalled, and complained about the incident.

”Dialogue, disagreements and even demonstrations must be conducted in an atmosphere of decency,’ Zubik said. ‘I hope that all of us — including the students involved — can learn and grow from this very important lesson.

Along with fellow nudist Robb Godshaw, 22, O’Connor was arrested for public nudity. Charges are being filed through Allegheny County, and a hearing is to be held on June 10, but no additional disciplinary action is being taken by the school. The school’s president, Jared Cohon, explains that while public nudity is against the law, he and the university encourage students to express themselves artistically, and otherwise.

“There are competing values at issue here: Carnegie Mellon aims to be a place where ideas can be expressed and debated openly, but also where people of all backgrounds, faiths, and beliefs feel welcomed and supported.”

Kudos, O’Connor. Message received.

No waist down shots? Landing strip or not that’s an integral part of the column.

Notice how school administrations will raise hell on earth if someone makes an even vaguely sexist, racist, or “homophobic” comment, but a girl can openly mock a conservative/religious figurehead in the most degrading possible manner with 0 repercussions.

The liberalism in our universities is constantly spreading and finding new hosts, like a parasite.

Who the fuck are the libs downrating this comment? Sorry he’s calling out our embarrassingly so-called “politically correct” society.

Cool down your victim complex. Catholicism is the single largest religious sect in the world. Don’t try to equate one of the most powerful groups out there with a bunch of minority groups that are still fighting just to be legally and socially regarded as fully equal human beings. Fighting largely against the Catholic church and its ilk, no less.

Listen up you bleeding heart liberal piece of shit. Why does it possibly matter how many members subscribe to a certain group? I’m not even a Catholic but I recognize that a clear double standard exists. I’m sure there are more Democrats on campus than Catholics, does that mean that Democrats cannot form a coalition or that Democrats should not try to avoid being degraded? You liberals preach a message of tolerance but your tolerance only extends to groups that you like, such as the homosexual or the black man. The second it’s a group that doesn’t fit your leftist interests, then to hell with them, they can be mocked without even a comment from the university.

I do not advocate censorship and I believe that if this girl wants to be a raging leftist cunt, that is her prerogative. But to ignore the double standard, or even to try to rationalize it by construing the Church as oppressive, is both pathetic and intellectually dishonest.

Also, the fact that I think homosexuals cannot marry another man doesn’t mean I don’t think they’re “human beings.” Cut the melodramatic bullshit. I also don’t think polygamists should be able to marry ten different women. Does that mean I don’t think polygamists are human beings either?

Of course not. There’s your liberal double standard again. Blow me

TrickleDown makes some good points. My problem with big groups is that they get followers whether it be religious or political and people follow them or vote for them because they are told to/grown into it rather than thinking for themselves. For example, voting republican or democrat just because your parents are that party.

All of this. I disagree about polygamy though. I see no reason why the government needs to suppress our ability to marry as many dimes as we want.

I love how polygamists are being told to quiet down because they don’t deserve the “right” to redefine marriage, but gays do.
