Charges For Barking At A Police Dog Against UF Linebacker Antonio Morrison Have Been Dropped

There is a pretty big update in the story regarding University of Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison’s arrest. For those of you who didn’t read my earlier write-up, Morrison was arrested in the early hours of July 21st for barking at a police dog.

As of 4:11 EST on July 23rd, the State Attorney’s Office has dropped the charges against Morrison, much to the relief of Gator fans and jorts aficionados worldwide. To some, this may come as no surprise. State’s Attorney Bill Cervone was reported as being unsure about the entire incident hours after it occurred.

“Based on my initial review … I am concerned about the legality of the arrest.”

In a statement given today, Cervone made clear that the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence indicating that Morrison’s actions demonstrated malicious interference with the police dog and its duties.

Even though the case was dismissed, you know Morrison is going to feel the wrath of Muschamp.

I don’t mean to brag, but I called this.

This was an idiotic arrest, but it’s not like you can expect any more from cops, especially campus PD, anyway. Just glad this guy didn’t get penalized for being drunk (probably) and walking home. I’m not a Gator fan either.

What is left out of this article is the fact that the District Attorney in Gainesville is a Bull Gator, and one of the top 10 boosters for the Football Program.

“Dropped due to a lack of evidence” or “Dropped due to an excess amount of stupidity.”

Talked the GPD into bringing some of their dogs to practice. We’ll see how much his 40m time improves with an aggressive canine on his ass.
