What an offseason for college kickers. From shirtless 80-yard and back flip field goals to high school kicking prospects creating announcement videos while aboard a private plane, it’s been the summer of the college kicker. And that’s how you know we’re in for hot as fuck 2015 season.

Now we have Clemson’s kicker, Ammon Lakip, grabbing offseason headlines for driving under the influence and dabbling in cocaine. According to head coach Dabo Swinney, Lakip will “miss some time.”

From NBC Sports:

Speaking at his annual golf outing Wednesday, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney was asked about the status of starting kicker Ammon Lakip. In late June, reports surfaced that Lakip had been charged with possession of cocaine and driving under the influence following an incident earlier that month.

“Ammon will hopefully have a chance to return to our team,” Swinney said. “At the earliest, it would be when school starts. But he’ll miss some time.”

“Hey Coach, got some bad news about our starting kicker.”

“Go on.”

“He put lives at risk by driving while intoxicated and was caught with a Schedule II narcotic.”

“He’ll miss some time.”

Hey, it’s hard to find a dependable kicker.
