College Student Arrested For Taking Drunken Nap In Class
While class attendance early in the morning is a big enough pain in the ass, convincing yourself to go learn when you’re trying to turn up on a Monday night is equally (if not more) irritating. But for one student at the College of Marin, it’s got him facing criminal charges.
College of Marin campus police received a call around 6:30 p.m. Aug. 31 about a student drunkenly passed out in class. The teacher, who clearly has no chill, tried to wake up 25-year-old old Michael Trump, but couldn’t.
From the Contra Costa Times:
Campus police removed Trump from class, detained him and searched his backpack. The backpack contained a bottle of Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum.
Police conducted a breath test on Trump and got a blood-alcohol reading of .23 percent, which, had he been driving, would be more than three times the legal limit of .08 percent.
Police booked him into Marin County Jail on suspicion of public intoxication and possessing an alcoholic beverage on school grounds. The Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed related charges, both misdemeanors. Trump pleaded not guilty.
The real crime here is getting drunk off Sailor Jerry’s Spiced Rum. That piss will give you dysentery or some shit.
Not surprisingly, Trump and his lawyer are fighting the charges due to the warrantless check of the backpack and the fact that falling asleep in class isn’t a crime (until someone starts a hunger strike about it). They argue it should be a school issue, not a legal issue.
Trump is also a former member of the school’s Board of Trustees. His online Board of Trustees profile says he wants to go “on to medical school to become a primary care physician, traveling third world countries and administering healthcare.”
Yeah, what a jerk. I hope the long dick of the law screws this smug, class-sleeping bastard. At least he got full attendance points..
