Dazed and Confused Is Getting A College Sequel, Filming Starts This Fall
To aptly paraphrase a great man, both for my life in general and the subject matter of this story, “That’s what I love about these college girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.” R.I.P. Wooderson. I assume that character died, probably in some sort of factory accident after he showed up drunk to work, bitter because he was dumped by the prom queen. That’s just a guess, and it’s totally not what’s in a chapter entitled “L-I-V-I-N, No More” on my Dazed and Confused fan fiction blog.
Anyway, Dazed and Confused, the classic high school comedy full of beer and drugs that was filmed right here in Austin, is getting a sequel! This according to the writer/director himself, Richard Linklater, in a Reddit AMA yesterday.
All right, all right, all right.
The questioner calls the film a “spiritual” sequel, and that is apparently what Linklater is probably planning. Basically that just means it would be a same universe, with different, but perhaps related, characters. Sort of like how all those shitty American Pie movies have a Stifler in them. The film is rumored to be called That’s What I’m Talking About, though currently there is no mention of it on Linklater’s IMDb page. Here’s hoping my prediction is wrong, and that Wooderson is in fact alive and well for the sequel, but has appropriately upgraded to banging out college girls at every opportunity. He’d be a lot cooler if he did.

Pink and Don would probably get bids somewhere.
Mitch and his friends would probably get bids but end up dropping because they couldn’t handle the hazing or were constantly fighting back against the brothers while pledging.
O’Bannion would make a hell of a hell master if he could get into college.
Slater would OD in a stall in the student union.
Tony and his friends would get into humans vs zombies.
Wooderson would get to be on TV to meet Chris Hansen.
Nobody gives a shit about Pickford, probably would go to community college.
Some of the girls would actually make pretty decent slams.
There I just saved you $10 so you don’t have to see this awful movie.
