Dude Possibly On Suicide Watch After Losing 15-Team Parlay On Last Game

One man watched anxiously over the weekend, cheering on the Patriots, Cardinals, Panthers, Broncos, Villanova, Virginia Commonwealth, Baylor, North Dakota State, Florida, San Diego State, Cal Poly, Creighton, Wisconsin, and the San Jose Sharks. No, this man is not a bandwagon fan. He was just cheering on the teams in his $5 15-team parlay. After he started out 14 for 14, he probably thought he was sitting pretty entering Monday night when his final team with a favorable line was playing. He stood to win just under 163K.
That’s when he was hit with the worst luck ever.
From ESPN:
A bettor at the William Hill sportsbook at the Downtown Grand Casino was one win away from turning a $5 wager into a $162,930 payday. The bettor needed a win by No. 1 Oklahoma over No. 19 Iowa State on Monday night to complete a 15-leg parlay and win William Hill’s multisport progressive jackpot.
Look, no one actually believes they are going to connect on a parlay that involves that many games. Sure, you kinda think of what you’d do with the extra $100K you’d have in your pocket, but in the back of your mind you always know that there’s never really a solid chance — much like the lottery.
So when you get that close only to lose, the only reasonable reaction is to go on a rampage. From now on, this guy can never cheer on Oklahoma. The Sooners are dead to him in every sport. Even if this guy was once an Oklahoma fan, they are now his enemy and must be seen as such.
The sports betting world is a cruel one. Lady luck is rarely on your side..

I felt the same way when they shut down Viking Quest.

10 years ago at 10:50 amIts not eve hindsight. When you have an opportunity to guarantee yourself a large amount of money you drain your bank account. Sure you feel like a complete piece of shit pulling out your entire savings account on a casino atm but if you take a money line going the opposite way its a guaranteed win.
10 years ago at 12:23 pmWhy not drop another major bet the other way as insurance on game #15? Throw 80K on game 15, so you know you’re walking away with 80K?
10 years ago at 11:25 amI’m sure he hedged the bet and put a few thousand on Iowa st
10 years ago at 11:33 amDumbass should have thrown 50K on Iowa State to hedge it.
10 years ago at 12:21 pmThis was so clearly the right play. Can’t believe neither he nor one of his friends put 2 and 2 together.

10 years ago at 12:45 pmFor everyone that doesn’t know, even though Iowa State was #19 verse the current #1 ranked team, ISU was still a 2 point favorite. Money line payout was -130 and moved to -140 before tip-off. For those that are screaming he should’ve hedged, you’re right, and he probably did since he was betting on the dog.
