Hate to burst this self-congratulatory bubble, but fraternities as a whole have become a helluva lot less manly and traditionally fratty. As much as we’d all like to say that we’re badasses and shit, a real fraternity man from back then is a rare sight today.
My own nationals has fucked over far too many of our good chapters, and I know other fraternities can say the same. It started with the whole “anti-hazing” movement. People actually join fraternities expecting to do community service and get treated with respect before initiation and shit. It’s terrible. Balanced Man is also a stake right through the heart of Greek life. It fucked over more than just Sig Ep’s chapters, that mentality is everywhere now
^I know for a fact that several other fraternities in the past few years have begin to collaborate with Sigep nationals to create programs similar to the balanced man program for their chapters as well. It’s a shame, it shows that liberal America is growing too strong. Not to mention universities across the country are trying to abolish the greek systems at their schools because they have no control over something that is so powerful on their campus, and they hate that. Frat on while you still can, build relations with alumni to combat the powers of the university and liberalized nationals, and above all always remember to hold your traditions and brotherhood sacred.
Yeah I’m a tradition SigEp and nothing is worse than being under the watchful eye of nationals at all times. They look for reasons to change the chapter, we have to continue our dominance in IM’s, recruitment, and a house gpa over 3.0 so they don’t come down on us. If we ever got busted for any form of hazing, we’d be done.
Let’s put it this way, when my dad pledged one of his pledge brothers died from eating raw liver. By the time I was active in his chapter, 30 years later, I had to fight tooth and nail to keep the brotherhood from amending the bylaws to ban making pledges do pushups.
Unless you’ve got some hazing deaths in your pledge class, congratulations, you’ve been pussified…you just don’t know it yet…
