      You’re not alone. My parents instilled a slight dislike for the government by doing this. Fortunately, the only imposed a 10% income tax on me, so it wasn’t too bad…however, they told me that when I’m “older and rich and powerful”, that number will skyrocket, so I’ll have to get used to it, unfortunately.     Gifts are not taxed up to 26,000 a year from your parents combined. Not counting what your grandparents could contribute if you had any. And they would bear the tax burden not you.

      Seeing as I get more than that a year directly deposited from my fathers account, yes i do. Also he doesn’t pay taxes on it because the burden is “transferred” once the person redeems the gifts, and that burden would fall on me.
