When three sorority girls at East Carolina University lost everything in a house fire on Monday, the ECU chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon helped make their holiday season a little cheerier.

The brothers raised over $8,000 in just three days with a Gofundme page they created in wake of the tragedy. The blaze completely torched the home of Alpha Phi sister Logan Peterson and Tri Sigma sisters Maggie Bode and Savannah Cherry.

The president of the chapter spoke to WNCT about the brothers’ emotional response to three Pirates in need:

“Just immediately my heart dropped, because of finals week and everything that’s going on,” Rose said. “Just the stress of Christmas around the corner, everything about this. I felt in my heart that I needed to help.”

Though the brothers reached their goal of $8,000 in outstanding time, donations are still being accepted HERE.

The community you become a part of when joining a fraternity or sorority extends well beyond the walls of your house. Thanks to the gentlemen of SAE for reminding us of that.

Does 1 positive and probably sponsored story about about SAE a day keep negative media attention at bay?
