Eli Manning Single-Handedly Cost A Guy $150,000 Over The Weekend

Eli Manning blew it in the second half yesterday. He missed a wide-open Odell Beckham Jr. for what would have been a touchdown, only to throw an interception in the end zone four plays later. He then threw a late interception with the Giants down two. That cost the Giants the win, but it also cost one man a lot of money.

From ESPN:

A bettor at CG Technology placed a $1,500, eight-team parlay on Friday. The ticket included four Friday baseball games (Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers) one college football game on Saturday (Iowa State -7) and three NFL money lines on Sunday (Green Bay, Denver and the New York Giants). The first seven legs all hit, leaving it all up to Eli Manning and the Giants on Sunday. Manning threw an interception on the Giants’ final possession of a 29-27 loss to the Washington Redskins. The parlay would have paid $150,000.

Oh man, that’s a tough pill to swallow. I don’t know how well I’d be able to handle that kind of mental roller coaster. It’s a feat to be able to start your parlay seven for seven and only need one more W to cash in. The Giants were seemingly in control for most of the first half too. For instance, this past weekend I had ASU -4.5, the over in ASU/Cal, Iowa State ML, FSU -7.5, and Colorado +9 and I was sweating bullets watching that ASU game. Had ASU not returned that onside kick attempt for a TD and hit the over but not covered, TVs would have been broken.

What a mad man to put down $1500 on an eight team parlay, though. The most I put down on eight teams is $50, so this loss has to sting a bit for that guy.

As a Giants fan and an Eli fan, I would never bet on Eli. This guy is insane.
