Family Of Kid Who Starved Himself Until Mizzou President “Announced White Privilege” Is Worth $20 Mill
Allow me to preface this by saying that just because someone is wealthy – or in this case, EXTREMELY wealthy – it does not mean he or she cannot be a victim of racism.
But isolated acts of racism in no way mean that the entire Missouri system refuses to allow African Americans equal opportunity. That is the biggest fallacy with the demands made by Concerned Students 1-9-5-0.
Here’s the full list, which demands the removal of University President Tim Wolfe, a spoken public apology and acknowledgement of white male privilege from Wolfe, an increase in black faculty and staff to 10 percent by the 2017-2018 school year, and several other broad requests for “inclusionary” programs.

There are individual racists at Mizzou. No doubt. And it’s terrible that some students had to endure racial harassment because of those individuals.
But the problem with these demands are that they imply the very structure of the university is conspiring against them. It’s not. Like the racist cop who murders an unarmed black man, the incidents of racism at Mizzou are indicative of a problem with individual people, not the university or those in charge of it.
Jonathan Butler, the poster boy of Concerned Students 1-9-5-0 who vowed to starve himself until those demands were met, is proof of this fact.
Butler comes from a family worth $20 million.
That’s right. Butler, the person who demanded that Wolfe step down from his position and admit his white privilege, is the son of railroad tycoon Eric L. Butler, who makes $8.4 million annually (Wolfe makes about $300,000 annually).
From St. Louis Post Dispatch:
He is a member of a prominent Omaha family. The newspaper says that Butler’s father is Eric L. Butler, executive vice president for sales and marketing for the Union Pacific Railroad. His 2014 compensation was $8.4 million, according to regulatory filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Butler, you can’t claim to be the victim of a system’s privilege when you are more privileged than the entire system. You are a living, breathing example that the university’s systemic racism (not the individual acts of racism) are non-existent.
You used childish, bullying tactics to force Wolfe into exile. You claimed you never wanted to be the center of attention as you spoke to a morning news anchor about your self-inflicted “struggle,” front and center, surrounded by supporters.
Worst of all, the entire university is now in danger – both white and black students have been targeted by online threats – because you wanted to play Ghandi with your friends..

Check your privilege, fucker
10 years ago at 2:19 pmThe funny thing is that his dad probably got that job simply because they needed to meet a diversity quota.
10 years ago at 2:20 pmWhich is racist in and of itself. But don’t tell them that, because then you’re a racist and they still aren’t.
10 years ago at 2:39 pmI don’t think affirmative action hires are getting paid 8 mil a year, just saying
10 years ago at 2:53 pmUnion Pacific’s a large company.
10 years ago at 3:09 pmSo black people only get exec jobs because they’re black? You sound a bit racist.
10 years ago at 2:54 pmNot all, but there are some.
10 years ago at 3:08 pmYou’re a dumbass
10 years ago at 3:33 pmHis father has a degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon. He is much smarter than anyone in your family. You enraged?
10 years ago at 4:27 pmNo. I am not at all enraged. Good for him for making something of himself, despite growing up in a time where there was much worse racism. Maybe his son can take a page out of his book and quit being such a pussy
10 years ago at 6:51 pmCarnegie Mellon is a private university where tuition now is $63,000. Yes, inflation exists, but it still must’ve taken some serious coin to go there. Wealth and “white privilege” may not be the same thing, but this kid has damn sure grown up with more privileges than anybody in the black or white community
10 years ago at 7:42 pmI love black people.
10 years ago at 2:23 pmCmon man
10 years ago at 7:53 pmButler is absolutely despicable. Look around. 1 in 7 Americans are living in poverty. 73% of blacks are born out of wedlock. Over 47 million Americans are on food stamps, 110 million on welfare. And he’s a victim despite coming from a family worth millions? If he’s a victim, who isn’t? Butler, is a self righteous bully, who wants media attention and popularity despite dong nothing productive. He is silencing others, trampling on free speech, and lying in order to get power. Institutional Racism? Get the fuck out. Instead of crying about your supposed short comings, encourage others to work hard, expect nothing, and earn everything. What an embarrassment.
10 years ago at 2:27 pmHadn’t done anything with his life and not living up to daddy’s standards so he decided to become a fucking political figure to gain “respect.” What a pathetic piece of shit
10 years ago at 5:03 pmNo bjd
10 years ago at 2:36 pm“Daddy look I did something. I told you I would amount to something”
10 years ago at 2:37 pmHe should feel black privilege because he actually knows who is father is
10 years ago at 8:18 pmThis is turning into comedy. Literally everyone on that campus right now is probably offended by one thing or another. And for what? What’s going to be solved by this? Like that Australian comedian talked about, what’s wrong with being offended? Grow up and worry about your life and things that actually matter. Enough of this pussy shit.
10 years ago at 2:38 pmKids a fucking pussy.
10 years ago at 2:42 pmHe makes 8.4 a year but is only worth 20? TNewMoney/N/NFLPlayerM.
10 years ago at 2:43 pmThe only thing that gives you privilege is money.
