Florida Linebacker Cristian Garcia Stops Sexual Assault at Gainesville Bar

Florida Gators linebacker Cristian Garcia was just doing his job Thursday night when he was faced with a crisis. Garcia, who works security at the 101 Cantina near campus, noticed something fishy going on behind the bar. It turns out, what he thought was just two people having sex was actually a man sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.

From First Coast News:

“The girl was basically unconscious, so I knew there was no way she could be giving consent,” Garcia said.

According to Garcia the man’s friends were watching the assault take place, and did nothing to help.

Garcia said he walked up to the man and grabbed his shoulders and told him he needed to stop. That’s when [the man] got violent and threw a few punches.

“I hold strong moral values and I don’t think anyone should be taken advantage of in that kind of way,” Garcia said.

Looks like our alleged rapist tangled with the wrong guy. He’s lucky Garcia took the high road and didn’t just unload on him Von Miller style. Good on the officers that took down this scumbag, and good for Garcia. Some people would just figure it was none of their business and let something vulgar continue. The bystander effect is a dangerous thing, but luckily the big man didn’t succumb to it.

This is good news for Florida too after the pellet gun incident they had to deal with earlier in the week. Even if their freshman are making piss poor decisions, it looks like they have a real high character player in Garcia. Someone needs to bid this guy if he’s unaffiliated. A chapter can always use a guy with strong moral values. Just remember, if you see a situation like that unfolding, be like this guy. Standing idly by never helped anyone.
