Florida State Needed To Celebrate Something From Last Year, Got State Rings

The 2015 season for the Florida State Seminoles didn’t lead to a national championship. It didn’t lead to a College Football Playoff berth. Heck, it didn’t even lead to a bowl win. But you know what it did lead to? A goddamn state championship.
If Coach Taylor has taught me anything, it’s that winning state is the ultimate accomplishment. Florida State had clear eyes and full hearts on their way to defeating Miami, UF, and USF. They didn’t play UCF, FIU, or FAU but we can go ahead and count all those as wins. How did they celebrate? They gave themselves some state championship rings.
This is the college football equivalent of a participation trophy. Great job, guys. You did a fine job winning three games last season against your in-state opponents, so let’s reward all that hard work.
The rings even make mention of their Peach Bowl appearance. Yeah, that same bowl where they got rocked 38-24 by the Houston Cougars..

Celebrating minor accomplishments cause you failed to complete the major ones. TFM?
10 years ago at 2:23 pmWell considering of the only programs in the state that matter, were the only one that has the stones plays the other two, I’d say it’s worth mentioning. That being said memorializing it in a ring might be a little much.
