Guy Pulls Out Gun To Distract Beer Pong Opponents, Oops Shoots Two People

Guy Accidentally Shoots Two People While Trying To Use Gun For Beer Pong Distraction

Saturday was a day meant for getting belligerently drunk in the name of freedom. It was not a day meant for getting shot. However, one Fourth of July party turned sour when a guy shot two people by accident. How does this happen? It all started with a friendly game of beer pong. One man, Manus Shannon, whipped out a gun to try to distract his opponent. Wrong move, because the gun went off. He shot two people.

From DNAInfo:

Manus Shannon, 27, was playing beer pong at a Fourth of July party in Roseland about 9:20 p.m. Saturday when he pulled out a 9mm semiautomatic gun, according to police and prosecutors.

Shannon began waving the gun in his opponent’s face to distract the 24-year-old South Chicago man during his turn, Assistant State’s Attorney Erin Antonietti said during a bond hearing Monday.

The opponent pushed Shannon away, and as he did, the gun went off — striking the opponent in his finger and a 20-year-old Roseland man in his shoulder, prosecutors said. According to Antonietti, the 20-year-old was sitting nearby texting at the time and not involved with the game.

Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt from this idiot’s idea to pull out his gun. Both men hopped in their car and drove to the hospital where their conditions were stable. Police arrested Shannon later that evening and are holding him on a $100,000 bail. Sucks to be the innocent bystander who was there to celebrate America and throw a few back, only to get clipped in the shoulder by a bullet originating from a friendly game of beer pong.

Generally, beer pong distractions are for the weak. Unless you’re a girl with nice cans, there’s no reason for you to be doing them. You’re basically saying that you aren’t confident enough in your game to win it straight-up.

Someone pocketing a semi-automatic gun is typically my cue to head out. Real classy party from the sounds of it.
