Hundreds Of Phoenix Police Officers Attend Kindergarten Graduation Of Fallen Officer’s Daughter
Here’s you a nice feel-gooder to take you into your Memorial Day weekend. Well, it’s actually a very sad story, but it also proves how awesome people can be.
Phoenix Police Officer Daryl Raetz, 29, was tragically killed by a hit-and-run driver while conducting a DUI investigation early Sunday morning. On Wednesday, his daughter graduated from kindergarten. Filling in for Officer Raetz were his brethren on the police force, about three to four hundred of them.
From AZ Family:
The daughter of Officer Daryl Raetz, who was killed in the line of duty over the weekend, graduated from kindergarten today. Because her father couldn’t be there, her Phoenix Police Department family showed up to stand in his stead and celebrate Tatum.
“She had 300, 400 parents up here for her this morning,” Officer James Holmes said. “It was absolutely amazing. It was bittersweet and it was a bit overwhelming for all of us.”
What a great scene.
To Officer Raetz’s daughter and entire family…we love you THIS much! twitter.com/phoenixpolice/…

Officer Raetz’s daughter graduates kindergarten. He couldn’t be here so his PD family made it a point to be. twitter.com/phoenixpolice/…

Afterthought: I’m reminded of that scene in Die Hard With A Vengeance when all the cops are frantically searching the city looking for a bomb that’s supposedly in a local elementary school. Then that little shithead New Yorker kid rolls by Bruce Willis on his bike after ripping off a street vendor. He took like some candy and some baseball cards or whatever. Bruce Willis then stops him and is all like, “What’s the matter with you, you little New York punk!?” Then the kid is all, “Look around, man. All the cops is into sumtin. You could steal City Hall.”
That’s when it dawns on Bruce that all the cops in the city are occupied so it’s basically a criminal free-for-all out there. I just hope the Phoenix lowlifes and thugs didn’t know about this graduation ceremony. Coulda gotten ugly.
