If You Made A Late Night Wendy’s Run In The Last Couple Months Your Credit Card May Have Been Leaked

If you hit up Wendy’s for some post-binge Frostys and square burgers within the last few months, your credit card info might have been stolen.

Beginning in December of 2015, the fast food chain has been plagued by cyber attacks. On Thursday, Wendy’s President and CEO Todd Penegor put out a statement apologizing for the attacks and saying, “As we have reported over the past several months, unfortunately, some Wendy’s restaurants have been the victim of malicious cyber activity targeting customers’ payment card information.”

Penegor calls the breach “highly sophisticated, criminal cyberattacks” and says Wendy’s has “conducted a rigorous investigation to understand what has happened” and remains “committed to protecting our customers and keeping you informed.”

The restaurant chain is offering customers who have been affected one year of complimentary fraud protection services and identity theft coverage. They also created this map where you can check to see if your info is likely to have been stolen.

In my opinion, Wendy’s is pretty low on the drunk fast food pantheon, coming in at somewhere above Arby’s and Long John Silvers but well below the colon-defiling golden gods of Burger King, Taco Bell, and Chick-Fil-A.

Because there’s one within walking distance when I’m too drunk to drive, I am ashamed to say I guzzled far too many of those 4-for-4 meals and Asiago Chicken Clubs on Sundays when Chick-Fil-A was closed out of necessity, and now I have to track my dirty, compromised credit on an exposure map like some panicked freshman during a chlamydia outbreak.

It’s not worth it. Next time, just order Domino’s.
