Iowa State Tight End Injured By Vehicle, Expected To Make Swift Recovery

Iowa State tight end Chase Allen was struck by a vehicle near the team’s practice facility. He was able to jump out of the way to avoid full impact, but he was hit by the windshield at full force.

Allen said he had a large amount of broken glass in his back, but managed to avoid hitting his head or suffering any bone injuries.

Allen popped up and was taken to an emergency room by some of his Iowa State coaches.

Allen took 103 stitches on his back after being cut by shattered windshield glass.

“The coaches were there with me in the E.R., and I’ll be cleared when the stitches heal up. (It) could have been so much worse,” Allen said.

As scary as this injury was for Allen, it looks like he’ll make a relatively quick comeback and still be able to make an impact on Saturdays this fall. If I had that many shards of glass in my back, you’d find me at the scene crying like a bitch, so much so that the doctor would order up lethal doses of morphine once I arrived at the hospital, if not simply refuse to treat me altogether.

I’ve always admired college football players for being tough as nails, and Chase Allen is a prime example. It’ll take a lot more than one measly out-of-control car to stop him from playing the game he loves. What I really want to know is who the ass clown was that managed to run him over in a parking lot. It wouldn’t surprise me if the car had an Iowa University parking pass, but that’s just speculation..
