Johnny Manziel Wants To Play For The Dallas Cowboys
Johnny Manziel believes he will play in the NFL again someday. Where? That remains to be seen. But the walking headline that is Johnny Football has his sights set on a homecoming of sorts.
In a video from TMZ, Manziel was asked where he wants to play. His response: “The Cowboys.”
Johnny Football playing in Big D, for the most infamous and valuable franchise in all of sports, for owner Jerry Jones, in Jerry World, back in Texas where he became a college football legend –- Did your head explode yet? I think Skip Bayless’ just did.
Now this would really be something. Hate him or love him, the world is a better place when Manziel is on the football field. He has that inexplicable “it” factor that few others possess. Cleveland just found a way to drain it out of him, as it has to every other quarterback for the past century.
Face it, Cowboys fans — Tony Romo is holding onto his career by a thread. His collarbone and back are basically made of glass at this point, and, in an effort to provide extra padding for those areas, he appears to have packed on the old veteran 15.
Despite all the hate that Romo receives, he has had a quality career and might most resemble Johnny Football’s style on the field. Romo has never been considered a pure drop back quarterback, as much of his finest work is done scrambling around and making something out of nothing. Sound familiar? Romo himself isn’t a stranger to off-the-field drama either. This mentor-like relationship is sounding better and better the more I think about it. I can already see Johnny dropping back with a backward cap on during practice, mimicking Uncle Tony.
I don’t think we need to rehash the laundry list of problems Manziel is facing off the field. He undoubtedly needs to get his life somewhat in check before a comeback is even possible. But if he’s able to do that, I don’t think Jerry Jones will be able to resist the opportunity to take a flier on Manziel. It was widely reported that Jones was close to pulling the trigger on Manziel in the 2014 NFL Draft; I don’t know if he will have the will power to pass up on him again.
For this to work, Johnny needs to be Johnny. This doesn’t mean he’s allowed to skip team workouts and practices, but if he shows up on time, albeit a tad hungover after spending the night in College Station, then so be it. It’s time for the Cowboys to embrace their ‘North Dallas Forty’ history of the 70s and championship reign of the 90s where players ran amuck in the city of Dallas. No, I did not live in the 70s; I just have good taste in movies.
Go for it, Jerry. Make Johnny Football great again by bringing him back home where he belongs. Texas forever..

I thought he was in rehab….
9 years ago at 3:05 pmHe’s skipped rehab like a black guy paying his kid’s pension
9 years ago at 3:08 pmPaying his kid’s pension??? What are you fucking talking about guy.
9 years ago at 3:23 pmPlot twist. The black guy’s kid is a cop who is now retired. The black guy consistently pays his taxes in a timely manner, which then eventually makes its way to his kid, thus paying his pension
9 years ago at 4:17 pmThis comments just all over the place wtf
9 years ago at 3:29 pmDid you mean paying for his kids abortion…oh shit I meant child support…
9 years ago at 3:37 pmThe voices in my head combined with the whiskey thought it was a good joke
9 years ago at 3:46 pmDo not drag whiskey through the mud with you to try and cover for your nonsensical statements.
9 years ago at 4:37 pmFuck Johnny Manziel
9 years ago at 3:13 pmHe was cool when he was in the NFL pulling this crap but now it’s just sad. It’s like watching a 5th year senior become a 6th year senior.
9 years ago at 3:13 pmNo, this is more like the 5th year senior failing all of his classes and flunking out after years of carelessness and debauchery.
9 years ago at 3:26 pmPretty shitty content in general for a Monday, Grandex…
9 years ago at 3:16 pmThe only rehab I attend is on the beach in cabo.
9 years ago at 3:42 pmPretty disrespectful of Johnny taking initiative in coming to Dallas, considering he has done nothing to deserve wearing the star on his helmet
9 years ago at 3:56 pmGreg Hardy
9 years ago at 4:02 pmHardy had prior NFL success
9 years ago at 4:06 pmY’all don’t exactly have a sterling reputation as a winning franchise anymore either, take it easy up there in your ivory tower.
9 years ago at 5:48 pmI have no expectations of this season. Our D-line can’t lay off the devil’s lettuce and Jerry Jones actually believes they’ll get serious at some point. Just don’t want to see Manziel further tarnish what reputation we still have
9 years ago at 9:38 amChill out you dork
