KA From Texas State Hooks His Brother’s Lip While Fishing

“(Laughing) Oh man, I just received a Snapchat from some friends at Texas State. They showed their buddy laying in the emergency room with a fish hook stuck through his top lip.” – W.R. Bolen

“Get them to send you a picture,” I followed with. “That type of shit doesn’t happen every day.” They sent it, along with an email describing how it all went down.

Here’s their account of the story:

We were fishing at South Padre Island in the flats. Using top water lures. I hooked up on a fish and [name redacted] decided to use the same one. He was standing behind me while changing his lure and when I went to cast, I hooked him in the cheek and top lip. We were about 45 minutes from the dock so it took forever to get back. They prescribed him some drugs so now were going to abuse them, naturally.

Naturally.

Fishing trip mishaps seem to be among the funniest out of all sporting events or outdoor pastimes. They usually involve a boating or fishing related minor injury, and someone falling in the water. We just hope a camera is rolling when they happen. Some of them, like this one, turn out to be internet gold.

For the recipient, a hook to the mouth might be one of the shittiest of all the possible fishing accidents. It’s probably pretty awesome for everyone else, though. However, if you do happen to take a hook to the grill, Costas in the E.R. is the only way to cope with the pain.
