Knoxville Radio Wants To Know If Joshua Dobbs Is Better Than Vince Young, Let’s Argue
University of Tennessee fans like to argue that they are the one real UT, and that the University of Texas should not hold that honor. That argument is now on the backburner, though, because now we have an even hotter college football debate flaring between the two programs.
Earlier this morning, FOX Sports Radio Knoxville tweeted out the following…
Such an enthralling question! This one is really tough to break down. The argument could go either way. Oh wait. No it can’t. Vince blows Dobbs out of the water. Let’s look at the tape.
Vince Young posted one of the greatest stat lines for college quarterbacks of all-time. You can’t argue against that. As a Junior, Reggie Bush beat him out of the Heisman even though VY had a better season, IMO. Here are some of VY’s greatest accomplishments:
• Rushed for 998 yards as a freshman, even though he didn’t become the starter until seven games into the season.
• As a sophomore, Young rushed for over 1,000 yards, had 14 touchdowns, and threw for another 1,800.
• Led Texas to a Rose Bowl Victory over Michigan.
• As a junior, Young threw for 3,000+ and added another 1000 on the ground.
• Led Texas to a National Championship over USC.
• Holds BCS Title game record for most total yards in a game (437).
• He is the only player in NCAA history to pass for over 230 yards and rush for over 250 yards in a single game.
Plus, he did this:
And this:
Let’s look at what Joshua Dobbs has done now.
• Led Tennessee to an Outback Bowl win.
• Won the TaxSlayer Bowl.
• Almost threw for 2,300 yards and rushed for almost 700 yards as a junior.
Give me whatever drugs FOX Sports Radio Knoxville is on for even thinking this was a question that needed to asked. I’d take a 50% healthy Vince Young at Texas over a 100% healthy Dobbs 100 times out of a hundred..

There is no one like Vince Young
9 years ago at 1:14 pmCam Newton thea better.
9 years ago at 2:40 pmWas*, fuck I hate this.
9 years ago at 2:40 pmIf it was a spelling bee, give me Dobbs every time. Unfortunately for Dobbs this is football, and while Vince Young had the IQ of the bananas of which his people are so fond of, he was one of the greatest college players of all time.
9 years ago at 1:25 pmIf you’re gonna be racist at least make it funny
9 years ago at 1:45 pmJesus Christ I just re read that. Laps taken.
9 years ago at 1:54 pmJoshua Dobbs has no eye-brows, so I’m gonna say Vince is the better Qb.
9 years ago at 1:27 pmVince Young mushroom-stamped Pete Carroll.
9 years ago at 1:36 pmThis would be a cool thread on…a forum. Fuckin commies.
9 years ago at 1:44 pmTennessee vols. 2016 preseason sec champs!
9 years ago at 1:52 pmTaking in pride in something that:
1. doesn’t even matter.
2. isn’t even true.

9 years ago at 8:11 amI heard more sound arguments during my time doing community service in a facility for adults with mental disabilities.
9 years ago at 2:30 pmHell, I’d rather have NFL Vince Young over Joshua Dobbs
9 years ago at 3:06 pmI thought this was a ridiculous idea to compare the two, but if you compare their stats going into their final year, it’s actually a reasonable comparison. It’s Young’s final year that really separates them, so we can’t make a real judgement until we see dobbs this year
9 years ago at 4:01 pmYes we can. They’ve both played the same amount of years in college. Meaning they’ve had same amount of college coaching. VY’s 3 years are much better than Dobbs. Case closed.
9 years ago at 10:24 pmNot really; Dobbs had more passing touchdowns, more rushing touchdowns, and a higher completion percentage through three seasons. If Tennessee could hold a lead last year, his resume would be better to this point than Young’s
9 years ago at 10:55 pmWrong. Josh Dobbs has accounted for 46 total TDs in his 3 years of playing. Vince Young THREW for 44 in his 3 years of playing. Add in his 37 rushing TDs and Young crushes Dobbs. Dobbs in 4 years won’t have as many TDs as young in 3 years. Young also had 9215 yards total in his 3 years. Dobbs currently sits at 5521 in his first 3 years.
9 years ago at 10:08 amThrough three seasons dobbs has played in as many games as young played in his RS freshman and sophomore seasons.
9 years ago at 11:56 amEven so. That means 1) Dobbs couldn’t even beat out Justin Worley to be the starter 2) Dobbs still needs 35 TDs in his senior year just to tie Young. Oh and he has to win a natty, throw for 300 and rush for 200 to become first QB to do that and set a record for most total yards in a natty. It’s not even fucking close.
9 years ago at 12:56 pmI never said dobbs was better, I think dobbs will fall about 10 total TD’s short. My point was that the argument is just not as ridiculous as it seemed at first, but it does become interesting if the Vols are as good as they could be
9 years ago at 1:26 pmI’m just overall not a fan of comparing players when one isn’t even done playing yet, but your points are all probably correct, I just think we should wait until after the year to have all the facts once it’s all said and done
9 years ago at 1:29 pmAnd also young had a redshirt year so he had four years of coaching
9 years ago at 10:56 pmJosh who?
