Actually, this is a huge grammar myth. Everyone seems to believe that you should never end a sentence in a preposition, but grammarians say there are plenty of cases when it is fine. In this case, there isn’t any reason to change the original, especially since it sounds more natural.
I’m not going to post any links, but there are tons. Google it if you’d like.
Sorry….I get so used to defending it (journalist) that my response was kind of instinctive. I sound like a huge nerd. Plus, “on what is going?” definitely makes more sense than “what is going on?”
i pay for food, parties with gorgeous women, a place to hang out that isn’t my dorm, legendary stories, and i pay for building a bond independents could never understand. fuck every gdi that has ever said this to me.
Sergeant Arms, I always think that exact thing. Doesn’t nearly every worthwhile club have membership fees? And if I were paying for my friends, wouldn’t my friends be the ones getting the money?
If you actually break down what you are “paying” for then its not for friends at all. Bad ass housing, homecoming, intramural events, parties, and clothes (Bid day shirts, etc) then its actually an amazing investment. Unfortunately, Geeds are to stupid and poor to understand. They blow their money on cheap shit then watch us win everything every year without comprehending how. Jealousy is NF and that’s why Geeds are filled with Jealousy.
Bottom line, I didn’t join a Fraternity because I thought I was better. I joined because I know I’m the best.
Mandatory yankee-bashing comment.
