Larry Fitzgerald Is One Of The Nicest Shit Talkers In The NFL

If you’re one of those losers who wants their football players to play the game the right way and be the upstanding image of sportsmanship on the field, then you no doubt love everything Larry Fitzgerald stands for. He’s not afraid to shoulder the blame for a team loss, because, dagnabit, he just plays for the love of the game and wants to win.

The most recent news concerning one of the better receivers in the game actually took me a little by surprise. Fitz is one of the game’s nicest shit talkers. In fact, he’s so nice on the field that notorious shit talking cornerback Richard Sherman says he won’t talk smack to Fitzgerald.

From the Wall Street Journal:

But cornerbacks say one of the biggest concerns before matching up with the Arizona Cardinals star is the slew of pleasantries, cordial remarks, good-natured comments and otherwise amiable chatter that Fitzgerald throws their way during a game.

“He’s asking how your family is,” said Washington Redskins cornerback Will Blackmon.

We can’t put him on a pedestal though for being a family man in between the lines as this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this happen in sports.

Call me old fashioned, but I want my receivers to show some fire on the field. I want my go-to speedster to seek out the best corners, get in their head, and then burn them for a 70-yard touchdown. Cornerbacks have no problem turning potential wide receivers into a vegetable when they are talking smack, but when it comes to Fitz they would genuinely feel bad.

That’s some next-level reverse psychology. Not sure if I respect it or hate it. Well played, Larry..
