Call me crazy, or speculate about my family’s ties to Wall Street, but I voted for Hillary. It was a tough decision for me, as I was closely torn between the two candidates. I noticed that Trump’s rhetoric struck a chord with quite a few people, including some in my own left-leaning family. I attributed his popularity to the disenfranchisement of a large portion of the middle and upper classes by a healthcare system that does not suit today’s America or our capitalist agenda. The constant stream of attacks by the media, even over matters that most would consider trivial, only added fuel to the fire. The only reason I chose the other candidate was that Trump seemed impulsive, which I noted as a sign that he was not very thorough, and lacked follow-through.

However, since he was elected, and since I’ve seen the astounding spur of investor confidence created by his stead, I have stood behind him 100% as the President of our nation. I believe that his presence alone at his post has given many people the confidence to work harder and produce more value – a suspicion shared by the investors who’ve bid up prices. Interest rates are rising again, as a sign that businesses are expected to be more successful during the next eight years. The Affordable Care Act was a big part of the problem, but not the whole problem. Its repeal must come with many concessions, and cannot be one-sided. That is just how the political game works. One side is thus prevented from making reckless moves in favor of a minority agenda.

I continue to support President Trump, because I believe that he has changed attitudes in our country. He inspires confidence that our legal system, inherited from the system of English common law, will not degenerate into socialism. And that confidence brings a higher standard of work ethic to American businesses. People are coming to the forced realization that there is no such thing as a utopia, and this is incredibly good for our society. While many condemn this reality as “authoritarian,” the media has not touched the issue in a way that would invite violence. And much to the dismay of the left-leaning media, the President has done little to invite conflict and has done a lot to quell uprisings – at least those that are not synchronized with Washington’s new agenda. And all of the hype about possible nuclear war with North Korea is little more than political posturing on both sides.
