Looking At The USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll

Here she is, hot off the press:

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Oregon
4. Stanford
5. Georgia
6. Texas A&M
7. South Carolina
8. Clemson
9. Louisville
10. Florida
11. Notre Dame
12. Florida State
13. LSU
14. Oklahoma State
15. Texas
16. Oklahoma
17. Michigan
18. Nebraska
19. Boise State
20. TCU
21. UCLA
22. Northwestern
23. Wisconsin
24. USC
25. Oregon State

A few brief thoughts:

1. Blah blah blah Alabama blah blah Roll Tide.

2. Ohio State deserves the number 2 spot, regardless of what the SEC blowhards might think. They will be a tough squad this year, offseason distractions be damned.

3. Pac 12 coming in strong at 3 and 4. We’ll see how Oregon performs with a new head coach and those swanky new digs.

4. Can’t wait for A&M vs. Bama in College Station. The whole country agrees.

5. SEC with 5 of the top 10 spots. No surprise.

6. I’d flip-flop OU and Texas. I don’t care how many players Texas has coming back, OU has embarrassed them on the field as of late. It’s not right having them ranked in the current order.

7. Big 10 and Pac 12 close strong near the bottom of the list.

And finally, preseason lists don’t mean shit. We’ll see how good these teams are when they strap ’em up in less than a month.

The facts are simple, most SEC teams have a tougher regular season so if one of them can make it out unscathed, they’re almost guaranteed the title.
Louisville and Ohio St are good teams but they just have a much easier road to the BCS.
Also a little surprised Ole Miss or Mississippi State didn’t make it in.

If you think for one fucking second that Stanford or Oregon is better than USC UGA or LSU you are mentally retarded

    1. Beowolf

Any of those 3 against Oregon or Stanford would make for great football this season.

13 years ago at 5:42 pm
    2. TomFratMoore

I mean nebraska held on with UGA for 3 quarters. i honestly think standford and Oregon could beat UGA and USC, just this year. probably not LSU

Clowney alone would prison rape Mariotta and the rest of the Ducks offense. Do you guys even play defense? I ask because I know with the Cocks Offensive line and Mike Davis in the backfield with Shaw we would bull doze you guys. Stanford is the only PAC-12 team worth anything because they still play grown men football.

The only thing Oregon goes deep in, are those ugly cows you west coast, hippie, liberal trash are stuck with. We men of the south are blessed with the most beautiful women, best food, and best football. Fuck the rest.

    3. SEC Gameday Drunk

Bama’s practice squad would play better defense than 9 of the teams Oregon plays this year. That’s the only reason O’s offense looks good.

    4. B1GoverSEC

Oregon would trash all of those teams but UGA. And don’t even fucking try to call anybody mentally retarded when you go to an SEC school, you probably need a 16 on your ACT to get in to half of those schools. And the most beautiful women is a myth… a straight myth. There are hot girls everywhere. Location does not correlate to attractiveness. For the record Chicago has better food and hotter girls than every southern location I’ve visited

Oregon is the most over-rated team in college football, and I hate it when Oregon fans complain that the SEC only plays in-conference games. Oregon only played one good team last year, and they lost.

    6. SEC Gameday Drunk

Yeah there’s a lot of dumb mother fuckers that go to a SEC school, I’m not denying that. But you are fucking stupid if you don’t think 4 of the 6 best teams in the nation are in the SEC.

13 years ago at 4:14 pm
    7. B1GoverSEC

Maybe, but I think Oregon is also ranked correctly. And my argument was that Oregon could beat LSU, USC or UGA… which I still firmly stand by

^ Is that the same LSU that lost 6 defensive starters early, still has Zach Mettenberger as their QB and doesn’t know if Jeremy Hill will be on the team this year? lol you don’t know dick about football.

13 years ago at 1:23 am
    9. SEC Gameday Drunk

I dont know dick? LSU will go 10-2 this year only loosing to UGA and Bama. You put oregon in LSU’s place and they’d lose 4 and another 3 would be close.

    10. EQK

When Stanford and Oregon decide to let their balls drops and play a real schedule and not the push-over powderpuff-left coast schedule then maybe they can earn those spots in a few years.

13 years ago at 10:55 am
    11. B1GoverSEC

I see LSU losing 4 games this year. TCU, Bama, UGA, and A&M. USCs schedule is easy as fuck, UGA is the only tough opponent they’ve got.

13 years ago at 11:08 am
    12. Ryle Dup

Oregon lost the only defense they had with Dion Jordan, also both Oregon and Stanford play only one real game this year and that’s against each other. And I know when Oregon beats Tennessee all these Pac-12 kids are gonna act like they just won a national championship even though Tennessee finished 10th in the SEC last year.

13 years ago at 12:24 pm
    13. Jon M Fratsman

^ It’s a trap game for Oregon. I guarantee they’re already counting it as a win. But Tennessee gave them a hell of a first half last time and we’ll be even better this time. If you’re a betting man, absolutely take Tennessee to beat the spread. It’s like 27 points or some fucking ridiculous number and there’s no way it happens.

13 years ago at 7:19 pm
    14. SEC Gameday Drunk

LSU is gonna beat the dog shit out of TCU, and they’ll escape with a win against the aggies

13 years ago at 7:58 pm
    15. GamecockPride

^^^^ Really South Carolina’s schedule is easy as fuck?? Oregon plays two teams ranked in the top 25 and Oregon State barely even counts. South Carolina plays three teams that are ranked top 10

    16. TheConsigliere

^ This year’s schedule at USC is certainly more forgiving than it has been in recent years, however I would never say that it’s going to be a walk in the park. But that is a ridiculous spread for that Tennessee-Oregon game and I will definitely have some money on Rocky Top to take that spread down. Oregon will definitely win that game, but no chance will they best that squad by 27.

  3. Pearson Hardman

Ohio St is not a #2 ranked team. They have an incredibly easy schedule and it scares me to think that they have an extremely good chance of making it to the National Championship. If they play an SEC team in that game they will get beat by at least 20.

13 years ago at 4:42 pm
  4. OMFratRebel

Vandy should be on this list. With how they played last year and coming off a pretty solid recruiting class, there’s no reason that they shouldn’t be a top 25 team right now.

13 years ago at 6:21 pm
    1. Goodolboy1869

Yeah Vandy got shafted I’m happy as hell we don’t open with them again, that game was causing my drinking level to tip into the realm of being a Russian. Thank god for Shaw being tougher than he is smart. Hopefully we won’t have to many nail biters this year I want to see USC at least get to the SECG 11-0 losing to Bama would be expected upsetting them…well that’d take a miracle and you know Saban will sacrifice some virgins and babies to make sure he wins.

Bama is hands down the best team, no arguing that fact. But to say OSU isnt #2 is just ignorant. They did have an easy schedule last year and were a good, not great, team. Still they went undefeated with a team that was playing for nothing. Theyve only improved their roster with this new recruiting class. All you SEC fans need to take your bias and get the fuck out.

13 years ago at 5:22 pm
    1. GamecockPride

I’m a big SEC fan and I agree with OSU at #2 for the same reasons. However, they have a schedule this year that resembles one that Boise St would play.
