Not to be unpatriotic or anything, but from what I have read and heard, the Japs in WWII were pretty fucking crazy. That is untill we blew them all to Hell…Twice
The batshit crazy Japanese (kamikazes, etc.) I have no respect for. They were no better than muslim suicide bombers. But the ones that fought like normal human beings were by all means worthy adversaries who displayed heroics comparable to that displayed by our men. Not equal to, but comparable.
^ There’s a difference between being a psycho kamikaze jap and having a sack. The guys we send over there want to come back and understand they may not and still choose to go. Picking up a live grenade and attempting to throw it back is ballsy, especially when you’re not on a suicide mission from the get go.
True, but Crocket and Chairman have a point. The reason why the use of our most destructive weapons was justified was because the japs we were fighting on the ground (like in the battle for Okinawa) were literally fighting to the very last man. Their samurai honor code prevented them from thinking that surrender was even an option. Maybe not exactly ballsy, but certainly worthy of some respect in my opinion.
The Germans fought pretty hard in WWII, The Italians sucked dick and the Japanese were crazy. The German military high command was the best in the world. If Hitler hadn’t sucked, the Germans could have won before the US got into the war because they would have defeated Russia.
I don’t think this is a TFM having served in Iraq and in a fraternity I don’t know any of my brothers that would have the balls to do that. I would classify him as an American Hero and on a whole different level than “TFM”.
I agree. Placing this in the same category as snorting adderall and dunking a basketball while on fire is an insult to this man’s heroism and the army as a whole.
Hey guys, you do know he couldn’t run because he was shot in both legs? If a grenade landed near you and you couldn’t get away, what would you do? This guy’s instincts were right on the money and it ended up saving him and his buddies. I can see where he thinks people are overreacting calling him a hero (because it was a sensible reaction), but he definitly deserves it. Loosing a hand is a small price to pay for saving you and your buddies lives.
there was a comment block about this on the home-run derby catch video. bunch of people said it has to do with your recent searches but there is no chance of that because some of the ads are so random i don’t even know what they are.
he threw a cooked grenade from the ground, having been shot in both legs and unable to move. Grenades have a 15 meter casualty radius and a 3-5 second charge, meaning he did a damn good job at reacting and saving his brothers and his own life. Your attempt at humor failed, haze yourself. As for this being a TFM, for the purpose of the site and recognizing his actions, I totally agree. He’s been recognized for his actions properly, this just spreads awareness. I personally made sure to recognize him with a toast with some Ranger buddies at the bars last night.
A Real American Hero. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/07/12/soldier-who-lost-right-hand-in-afghanistan-receives-medal-honor/?test=latestnews
