Manziel Loses Nike Endorsement
According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, Johnny Manziel lost his Nike endorsement deal shortly after the 2015 NFL season, and now word is out.
BREAKING: Nike has terminated its endorsement deal with Johnny Manziel.
— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) April 20, 2016
From ESPN:
Nike spokesman Brian Strong told ESPN that Manziel, who was signed by the shoe and apparel giant in March 2014 to a multiyear deal, is no longer an endorser of the brand.
Sources said Nike terminated the deal some time after the NFL season ended.
The former Cleveland Browns quarterback had already been dumped by his original contract agent, Erik Burkhardt, and his marketing agent, Maverick Carter. His second contract agent, Drew Rosenhaus, left him on Tuesday, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Now Manziel has lost his biggest marketing deal.
The train is off the rails and his people are tucking and rolling out of it as it speeds toward its fiery grave. Man, this sucks. Manziel articles used to be fun to write. We celebrated his drinking, partying, carefree attitude, and his hot TCU girlfriend. Now I hate it and hope he doesn’t read them (ily, Johnny).
I’m not sure what’s left to say at this point that hasn’t already been said. Nike dumps Johnny after last season for his excessive partying and drinking, alleged domestic abuse, missing mandatory team functions, etc., but for some reason keeps it under wraps until he shows up to Coachella looking like the guy you buy shitty coke from?

9 years ago at 12:15 amWell let’s see.. People are interested, so they click on the article. More page views means more advertising revenue. Ya know, capitalism.

9 years ago at 8:58 amI know we joke about alcoholism a lot on this website, but seriously you guys, if you or a friend gets even close to this level of dependence, get help. People care about you, and you’re hurting more than just yourself. Sorry for getting sentimental, but this shit hits close to home for some of us.

9 years ago at 12:19 amWell said man. I’m sure a lot, if not most of us have had a father/close relative struggle with addiction problems. No shame in admitting you need help sometimes.
9 years ago at 12:41 amThank you for taking this seriously. Manziel’s alcoholism used to be kind of funny, but now that it’s real, it’s heart breaking. Especially to see all the people that look out for him.
9 years ago at 1:34 amRemember when we basked in the glory of Johnny Manziel? So sad to see it all turn out this way. I really do hope he ends up okay and not some Lindsay Lohan esque true hollywood story.
9 years ago at 1:48 amNothing makes me happier than to see how I was right from the start. manzel is a bust got lucky in collage and will continue to fail for the rest of his life. the browns were stupid to even try for this guy. even if he was good on the field he wouldn’t have the sense to keep out of jail for even a year. you guys need to stop idolizing fuck ups like this guy was
