Marc Gasol Doesn’t Think The Grizzlies Should Suck Each Other’s Dicks, Yet

Last night the Memphis Grizzlies eliminated the Oklahoma City Thunder and advanced to their first ever Western Conference Finals. The Grizzlies have quickly become the darlings (or maybe co-darlings, along with Steph Curry and the Warriors) of this year’s NBA playoffs. Charles Barkley is so confident that the Grizzlies will face the Heat in the NBA Finals that last night on TNT he announced he was going to Beale Street. Start stretching, prostitutes of Memphis, you’re going to be busy.

Between the Grizzlies daunting front court duo of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, as well as the emergence of point guard Mike Conley, Barkley is far from the only pundit high on the Grizzlies. Really, you can’t go a day without reading something about the Grizzlies’ rise from cellar dweller to contender. I think I’ve heard this story before, last year, with the Thunder. Still, they’re an entertaining team, and it’s been fun to watch.

However, Memphis center Marc Gasol isn’t as excited as the people covering his team. He knows there’s still work left to be done.

From ESPN.com:

“I don’t look at it that way,” Gasol said. “I always think you have to work today and the result will come tomorrow. I don’t think so much ahead of myself or the team.”

In other words, save the champagne.

This was a very big night for the Grizzlies. It wasn’t the last night, though.

“It’s not time to do that yet,” Gasol said firmly. “To me it’s not time to congratulate everybody.

“I’m a big Quentin Tarantino fan. There’s this line [in ‘Pulp Fiction’] from Wolf — which I can’t say in front of you guys — when they [finish] cleaning the car up. He says, ‘Let’s not do that yet.’

Here’s the full quote from Pulp Fiction that Gasol was referring to when talking with reporters last night:

“Okay guys, great win tonight. But we got a long way to go. Let’s not start suckin’ each other’s dicks quite yet. Hands in. Team on 3! 1-2-3 TEAM!”

Way to stay focused, Big Spain.

I think the Pacers have a decent shot at Miami. Never saw this level of talent or skill in Hibbert at Georgetown.

I saw the potential when he was playing in college. Seemed underutilized, though. They’ve clearly figured out how to maximize his impact.

For this, Pau’s more talented bro is now one of my favorite players in the NBA. Also, Grizz have a good shot at giving the Heat trouble in the Finals.

That’s bold. The 90s are stacked. Possibly the most stacked film decade of all time.

David Stern is going to shoot himself in the face if the finals are the Grizz and the Pacers. Lowest tv rating finals ever.
