Mark Dantonio Is Kinda A Dick, Kept Hanging Up On Radio Show

Mark Dantonio

The curmudgeon in east Lansing is at it again, this time hanging up on a FOX Sports phone interview after proclaiming their “questions don’t make a lot of sense.”

Dantonio, who apparently believed the state of his team’s biggest rival, Michigan, the departure of the most decorated quarterback in school history, Connor Cook, and innocuous “who’s under center?” questions were simply too much to handle, censored more questions than a North Korean town hall meeting moderator.

Dantonio, again playing the “disrespect” card heading into what most prognosticators believe will be a down season for the Spartans in 2016, completely ignored all mention of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, just one day after the Wolverines debuted their new Jumpman uniforms.

The “Dean of Discipline,” as he was once called, who led the Spartans to their longest 10+ win season streak in MSU history, is still the angriest of them all.

So coach, what did you think of those new jerseys in Ann Arbor?

fuck this guy. And fuck Sparty.
I hope Harbaugh calls timeout to run up the score

We’ll go for 2 every touchdown, we’ll spike the ball up 40 with 30 seconds left to score another touchdown, we’ll do whatever it takes to make up for the misery of the past 8 years.

I’m aware…but Sparty criticized Blue for “living in the past” when we brought up the fact that UM has won ~75% of the total games in the rivalry.

So…based on that, Sparty can’t live in the past either…by citing the record in the near term…right?

There’s a huge difference between citing the last 8 match ups and boasting about “11 national titles” when in reality you’ve won half of one (’97) in the last half century.

Fair comment. I try to be as objective as possible about this, and I 100% agree with you there.

National Titles won before black players could play…doesn’t count!

Michigan needs to win things now.

For me…it boils down to earned respect. I hate Ohio State…but I respect them.
They win, a lot. And they have been winning consistently for the past 40+ years…similar to Michigan.

So many of those games determined a conference champion.

Michigan State has been a joke during that same time, until the past 8 years.
Until they can consistently produce a competitive team for a lengthy period of time…they will remain a small blip on the radar.

Perhaps the last 8 years are the beginning of that lengthy run…time will tell I suppose.

Interesting that UM has only won around 50% of the games after the rivalry became a home and home series. Prior to that, it was played almost exclusively in AA, so the early record is unsurprising.

Oh please. This is hack radio at its finest. This man has won a B1G championship 3 of the last 5 years with half the talent OSU/UofM bring in. I’d like to see these jerkoffs ask some of those questions to Saban or Meyer. Just flat-out disrespect.

Come on Siblings, even your obvious dislike of Michigan State should not get in the way of whether this was shitty “journalism” or not. It was the first day of fall camp for a lot of schools around the country (including MSU), so he was giving up some pre-first practice time to chat with these schmucks who did no research whatsoever for the interview. The questions he was asked include whether Harbaugh was in his head (whom Dantonio beat his first year), why Connor Cook wasn’t captain (Connor Cook graduated last year and is in the pros so that has nothing to do with this year’s team), if he eats pasta with Izzo (just a plain dumb fucking question and waste of time), asking Dantonio if MSU gets disrespected (he has been asked that hundreds of times), and lastly who the new qb was (lack of research on the radio host’s part in my opinion). I wouldn’t say he is a dick, just sick of hearing the same shitty questions asked every single day and sick of reporters trying to get a rise out of him. Although the answers were not great and I’m not sure if he should have hung up without saying anything, they were pretty terrible questions if you ask me. Also how do you think Michigan fans or OSU fans would react if Harbaugh or Meyer got asked idiotic questions and they decided to just not take it anymore and hang up? Just my two cents.
