If you weren’t already over the moon with excitement to see Matt Kuchar tee it up in Rio for Olympic golf, this revelation he had at today’s Traveler’s Championship press conference will surely reel you in. A week out from the games, Kuch was still under the impression that their would be a team aspect to the tournament rather than individual stroke play.

From Golf Channel:

“Now, I may be miss-informed or just don’t know. You may have to help me. Is there no team format at all?” he asked.

“From my understanding,” Kuchar said, “it was supposed to be Bubba (Watson) and Rickie – they were the two highest-seeded Americans. Their combined score I thought was going to be the team part. There is no combination, no team at all? OK.”

Still no word on whether or not Kuchar has finally comprehended the core concept yet or if his inevitable backdoor top 10 finish does our country any good. At least he won’t get mugged. One look at his Sketchers and the Brazilian thugs won’t even bother stopping him in the streets. Plus, he’ll be able to take in all the ping pong action his little heart desires. Talk about the trip of a lifetime for Kuch.
