Meet Lt. Clay Higgins, The Most Badass Cop In America

St. Landry Parish is located about an hour northwest of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While it seems to be populated by small towns and few people, its sheriff’s department has one helluva character starring in its weekly Crime Stoppers segments on the local news. Lieutenant Clay Higgins is a spokesman for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department and he has a knack for placing the fear of God into the souls of those he features while simultaneously turning the small town news into something worth watching. While his weekly reports seem to have gone mostly unnoticed until now, the man is a certified badass and deserves some national recognition.

In his April 1 Crime Stoppers segment, Lt. Higgins features a Romanian scammer named Dorin Menteanu. Lt. Higgins holds no punches as he directly calls out foreign scammers, referring to them as “the lowest of the low” before showing a war memorial with the names of all St. Landry Parish residents who were killed in action. Those men and women, Lt. Higgins says, “gave their last full measure of devotion and their life’s blood to liberate your ancestors in Europe and the south Pacific.” Just watch it. It must be experienced.

If you don’t feel like a walking, breathing piece of human shit, your sanity should be questioned. Thankfully, Lt. Higgins has starred in many, many of these videos. More videos than I have time to watch and summarize. I’ve embedded a few of the best below.

April 8: In this Crime Stoppers report from yesterday, Lt. Higgins attempts to shame a man accused of assaulting a woman using a bottle. In his usual demeanor, the lieutenant calls out the fugitive’s manhood before informing him that regardless of what he chooses to do from here on out, he’s destined for a jail cell.

March 25: “If you ever attempt to steal from this man again, have your affairs in order.”

March 18: “You may as well turn yourself in. You know the company you keep, so you also know our phones are already ringing.”

March 11: After hitting the feels, Lt. Higgins wrapped it up with a killer quote. “Help us put these men in a small cell, where they can think about being in jail for many years, and remember the day that Crime Stoppers made them famous.” I’ve got the damn chills, man.

February 4: “If anyone deserves to be put behind bars, it’s a man that would steal from a small community church.”

Don’t fuck with Lt. Higgins.

I disagree. While it may be more telling to look at on base percentage and slugging percentage individually, OPS is a good way to boil down a batter’s value into one number.

Why fuck the cops? They protect us and our belonging. If you get in a wreck, life is threatened, or get robbed don’t bother calling them then.

Nice to hear a good story about a cop with all the police hating that’s going on right now.

We need to remember that most cops are good people trying to do the right thing. Don’t let a few bad people ruin your respect for the men in blue.

This is the kind of guy that, after having his sergeants stand down, slowly saunters up to a beaten inmate who caused a cell block riot, spits a fat lipper right in front of him, and says, “What we have here is failure to communicate.”
