Michigan Football Unveils New Jumpman Uniforms

For the first time in history, the dunking Michael Jordan logo of Jordan Brand now adorns a college football jersey. No, this was not a substance induced equipment manager’s mistake, but instead the official beginning of Michigan and Jordan Brand’s long-awaited partnership. With last year’s nearly $175 million contract with Nike, Michigan became the first and only football program to adopt the Jumpman, in a move undoubtedly aimed at recruits.

Yesterday, the premier uniform kits were released. Both Michigan and Jim Harbaugh showed them off on Twitter.

Coach Jim Harbaugh claims Michael Jordan himself suggested the idea of making Michigan Jordan’s “Oregon,” hopefully without any all maize uniforms in the near future. It is rumored Jordan will be releasing maize and blue Michigan-specific Colorways in all of its iconic Jordan footwear models, with the earliest versions set to release as soon as Friday.

The players (because football players are supposedly exploited, right?) will receive roughly $8,000 (retail cost) worth of Jordan gear this fall.

      Ok, but Jeter wore Jumpman in the MLB. Dez Bryant and several other players already have in the NFL. I agree it is sort of odd, but certainly not unheard of.
