Mizzou Players Go Completely Insane When They Find Out Their New Coach Is Barry Odom

I must have missed this last night but it is way too good not to share.

It’s hardly been “smooth sailing” in Columbia the past month. From hunger strikes to student protests and the resignation of head football coach Gary Pinkel, things have been rough at Missouri’s flagship school.

We are a week into the college football coaching carousel, and while not all openings have been filled, Missouri tapped its own defensive coordinator, Barry Odom, for the gig yesterday. Mizzou’s AD surprised the players with the news at a team meeting last night, and the official team Twitter account caught the whole thing on tape.

The team was clearly pleased with the decision.

Those dudes are pumped.

A lot of new faces in the SEC East next year. Odom at Mizzou, Will Muschamp (most likely) at South Carolina, Kirby Smart at UGA. Tennessee coach Butch Jones might have tenure over the rest of the crowd.

Great hire for Missouri. If it wasn’t former Memphis coach Justin Fuente, Barry Odom was absolutely the right man for the job. Excited (and terrified) to see what Mizzou’s defense looks like going forward. Maybe with a competent offense, they can take the division next year for a third time in like five years..
